Dante leans against the edge of the French doors that lead to the balcony, and no one seems amused by my jokes.

“Liam is claiming that you stole the contents of a safe deposit box from him,” Luca says, straightening his suit coat. “Did you do it?”

“I don’t even work in that part of the bank. I would have to… fuck!”

“Fuck, what?” the Wolf growls. “What do you know?”

I suck in a deep breath and let it out quickly before speaking in a rush. “Everleigh, my best friend, the one that Viktor is married to, she asked me to withdraw a safe deposit box for her a couple of weeks ago. It didn’t belong to this Liam guy. It was her fiancé’s box. It had ten grand inside, and I gave the money to Everleigh. I swear. I never went back into that room again. I wasn’t supposed to be back there.”

Wolfie pulls up a video on his cell phone and faces the screen toward me. It looks to be sent from another number that I don’t recognize, but it has that out of country code in front of it that reminds me of the calls Patrick would have me make at the bank. The video is captioned, get what’s mine.

My stomach twists as I watch the video attached. It’s me, removing a box from the vault. “That’s when I helped Everleigh, I’m sure. I wouldn’t have been in the vault had it not been for that reason. It’s not my job.”

Wolfie looks toward Dante and Luca, as though he’s gauging their reaction to my story.

“I’m telling the truth!” I shout. “You don’t have to believe me, but if you let me talk to this guy, I can—”

“I can’t help you if you’re not willing to be honest with yourself,” the Wolf growls and turns away.

“Help me?” I snatch the phone from his hand and hit the call button, but he grabs it back, his large hand swallowing mine, a growl under his breath.

“What are you doing? Don’t ever take anything from me again.”

“I’m helping myself! Clearly, you three aren’t going to. You’re holding me here like some sitting duck while we wait for some British billionaire to blow me away for a crime I didn’t commit!”

“You don’t understand, Cinderella. Liam Wilde is untouchable. You fuck with this man, and you’re fucking with God. How do you think fucking with God would go?”

“Aren’t you the head of the Italian mafia? You’ll find him, calmly explain that I had nothing to do with what he’s blaming me for, and we’ll move on. I’m sure he’ll understand.”

The Wolf throws his head back in a fit of laughter that doesn’t seem fitting for the moment.

“What?” There’s a lump in my throat as I speak. “We’re all adults. Why can’t we just talk to him?”

“Is that what you’d like, a face to face with a fucking T-Rex?”

I nod. “Yes. Why is that so crazy?”

“His men were on our vessel last night; they were here as a warning. Give them what they want or die. Your antics put everyone in danger. You’re lucky I called Dante and Luca in when I did, or we’d have had a lot more problems.”

“It sounds like my antics were warranted. And had you let me talk to these men instead of scaring them away, maybe this whole thing would be settled right now.”

“You were better asleep,” he groans. “Trust me.”

“What else did you do to me when I was drugged?”

He rolls his eyes. “I don’t need to sleep-fuck you, Cinderella. You’ve been throwing yourself at me all week.”

So hehasnoticed, yet he still rejected me.Interesting.

“You’re going to sit here, you’re going to tell us the truth about what happened, and we’re going to try and get you out of this mess before you get us all killed. And then, you’re going to thank me by never talking to any of us, ever again. Do you understand?”

I roll my eyes and grab the phone from his hand and make a run for it. I’m not sure where I’m going. I’m still surrounded by clear blue ocean as far as the eye can see, but listening to three men tell me what to do, without any mention of spankings or bending over, is getting on my last nerve.

Only a second goes by before I’m caught by the waist and thrown down onto the bed by a tooth baring wolf with a growl bubbling up his throat. Maybe this is the part where the spankings happen.

“What was the first rule?” he growls, his large body bent over me as I stare up into his dark eyes. Again, if this weren’t pissing me off so much, I’d be down for it.

“I don’t follow rules,” I say, my eyes locked with his. “I thought I told you that.”
