How could she regret falling for such a great person?Maybe her heart would be a little less broken if they'd never gotten involved, but she would have missed out on a couple of great weeks. And while Leo would be sad when Decker left, he'd recover, and hopefully, he'd have fond memories of him as well.

Decker suddenly shifted in the chair, blinking his eyes open as he came awake. He stiffened when he saw her watching him. "Leo?" he asked quickly, jumping to his feet.

"Still sleeping," she said quietly.

She'd no sooner finished her statement when she heard Leo's sweet voice.

"Mommy?" he said.

Whirling around, she gave him a comforting and loving smile. "Good morning, sleepyhead."

"How come I'm not in my room?"

"Because we came to the hospital to get you some medicine. Remember?"

"Can I go home now?"

"Soon," she said, kissing his cheek.

"Hey, buddy," Decker said, coming up behind her.

Leo's face lit up. "You're here, too?"

"Yes. I'm sorry I didn't make it to your show yesterday, but I want to see that dance when you're feeling better."

"I could do it now," Leo said.

"Not now," she said quickly as Leo sat up. "You're going to rest."

The door opened, and a nurse came in. "Well, it looks like everyone is up," she said with a cheerful smile. "How are you feeling, Leo?"

"I'm hungry," Leo said.

The nurse laughed. "That's good news. Let's take your temperature."

As the nurse conducted a brief exam, Chloe waited with bated breath, wanting to hear nothing but good news.

"His temperature is normal," the nurse said. "Heart and lungs sound good. The doctor will be in shortly to examine Leo, but you should be able to go home soon."

"Thank you." She blew out a breath of relief as the nurse left. "Did you hear that, Leo? We're going home soon."

"Can I have a donut for breakfast?"

"I think we can swing that." She felt like a weight had just slipped off her shoulders. Her little boy was going to be fine. That's all that she cared about.

The doctor came in a moment later and performed his own exam, confirming that Leo could go home. He would need to rest and finish his medication, but he should make a full recovery.

As the doctor left, she grabbed Leo's clothes and got him dressed. After signing the discharge papers, Leo was wheeled out to the parking lot, which he was truly delighted about.

Decker walked them to her car, and she buckled Leo into his car seat.

"Why don't I get the donuts?" Decker suggested. "I'll bring them over."

"Are you sure? You've already done so much."

"I'm hungry. I'll meet you at home."

As he walked away, she slid into the car, the wordhomeringing through her ears. She wished her home was his home. Well, for this morning, that's what it would be. At the moment, that's all she could care about.
