“You don’t need to worry, ain’t the club taking care of it. Artemis is striking a blow for a sister,” Jett said, his tone making no bones about us not discussing it any further.

“So we’re courting?” I asked, confused, and deciding to change directions.

Jett smirked, and my breath caught in my throat.

“If you wanna call it that, sweetness, we’ll call it dating. Exclusive, though, no other man can lay a finger on you. I’ll kill them.”

I blinked at the emotion behind his words and then pulled away slightly.

“No other women for you?” I asked; I needed Jett to confirm that I wouldn’t be the fool who sat at home while Jett was out chasing skirts.

“There will be no one else, Sin, I promise. I want this, what’s between us, burning for you and what we can be,” Jett said, his eyes staring into mine.

“You won’t judge me? Call me the c-word again?” I whispered.

A look of guilt crossed Jett’s face, and he cupped my face in his hands. “Try to give you time to explain Sin in the future. Can’t promise I won’t erupt occasionally, but I will attempt to let you explain. Got a temper, ain’t no mistaking that, I’ll blow, but when I do, you get in my face and shout like you did when you stormed the clubhouse. That was so fuckin’ hot.”

“It was?”

Jett nodded.

“Dick hardening hot baby. Wanted to lay you bare and fuck you over a table. If the clubhouse had been empty, I’d have been balls deep inside you bent over the bar.”

I blushed furiously. Jett stroked his thumb pads against my cheeks, smirking.

“I’m not my brother’s Sin. Told ya that before. Didn’t go through what they did to get the club clean, but I got my own demons, my own darkness. It’s too soon for me to tell you, but I will one day when I know you’re bound to me, body and soul. When you’re claiming me and will always have my back.”

“Give me the chance to demonstrate that,” I whispered.

Jett shook his head.

“Not you that’s gotta prove shit, baby, fucked up three times with you, not aiming for a fourth. You gonna hold back, I know that. It’s for me to break those walls down and make you mine.”

I sighed at Jett’s words and leaned forward to kiss him. Jett allowed me to brush my lips over his, and I cupped his face.

“Jett, I told you, I’m socially awkward; I’m shy and come across stuck up and stuff. I’ve never dated, just the odd dinner date here and there that never went beyond the first date. So much easier to be locked in the Vault with my papers and artefacts.

“I’ll try to be more open and social, but I can’t meet everyone at once. It terrifies me. There’s your brothers, the old ladies, that’s what they are called, yes? There are the women who hang around your club. I haven’t met their like, but I’ve read enough books about the club whores and seen Sons of Anarchy.” I took a breath, and Jett kissed me and stole it from me.

“Just don’t judge us Sin, I know I was wrong last time, and I jumped the gun. I’ll stand between you and the whores. That’s my place.”

“I don’t have to mix with them, do I?” I asked, afraid Jett would say yes. Because I knew what skanks wanted when they hung around an MC.

“Nah. The old ladies, yeah, but not the club whores. Whores ain’t in your circle. The old ladies are good women, strong and proud to be a brother’s heart and soul. Old ladies have their own clique. Phoe, Artemis, and Marsha don’t mix with club sluts. They only hang with each other,” Jett said with a gleam.

I realised Jett wanted that, wanted what his brothers had.

“Okay.” I nodded and then allowed Jett to lead me into the shop.

Chapter Seven.

When Jett opened the door, I faced Reid, Zoe, and Penny. The three appeared a contrast between hopeful and worried. Zoe was wringing her hands together, and Penny was chewing her lip. Reid was hovering and fiddling with his watch, a nervous thing he did.

“Hey,” I responded inanely. What else could I say?

“Oh, my gosh, boss, great to see you!” A hurricane flew towards me, and an arm wrapped around me, and Henry was grinning in my face. Henry held a coffee cup and presented it with a flourish.

“Thanks, Henry,” I replied, and Jett’s hand touched my shoulder. Reassured, I leaned back against him and sank into his comforting presence.
