“Yeah, what Phoe said,” Lowrider rumbled from close by.

“But we’re brothers,” Rock complained, reaching out to hug me. Texas grabbed me next, and then Fish.

“I could have planned a party,” Marsha whispered sadly as she hugged us.

“I’m so mad at you two right now! Neither of you mentioned a word this afternoon!” Phoe exclaimed, making her words a lie as she held us tightly.

“Decided it would be better for Ursula, I fuckin’ hate that name, if we’re married and bought a house. Judge will check for shit like that,” Jett rumbled.

Drake nodded as he hugged his tearful wife.

“You don’t appear surprised, Drake,” Ezra questioned, turning to Drake and eyeing him curiously.

“Prospect did what I’d have done,” Drake said, giving praise. Jett straightened, and I knew how deep that touched him. “Couldn’t be prouder of you, son, or you girl. Perfect, the pair of ya’s. Wish you many fuckin’ happy years!” Drake roared.

Roars erupted, and Drake hauled me into his arms and squeezed me tight.

“Knew it, Sin, guessed you were one for my brother, couldn’t be happier. The instant I laid eyes on you, I got hit in the gut with what type of woman you are. Proved me right,” Drake’s whispered words choked me up, and I hugged him tightly. “One of us, girl,” Drake murmured and dropped a kiss on my head. He gave me a final squeeze and let me go.

“Punch a brother again, bring an army,” I heard Apache laugh at Reid, who grinned as everyone joined in congratulating us with loud voices.

“Heck of a right hook for a book nerd,” Manny teased, and laughter erupted.

Two weeks later, I sat nervously next to Jett with Steven in the courtroom. Dina was served the day after we married. She’d been ordered to bring Ursula to the court with her. Whatever Steven had said to the judge had made her insist on the toddler being present. Behind us were all of Rage MC, Phoe and Emily, two gay guys called Stefan and Bernard, who were Phoe’s close friends, and Reid. To my surprise, Dylan Hawthorne attended alongside a state Senator and a Congressman. Detective Ramirez was also sitting with us.

Jett winked and whispered to keep calm. We had this in the bag. Steven had a thick file in front of him, which he tapped his long fingers on. Steven kept gazing across at Dina, smirking at her lawyer and making him uncomfortable. Dina had found money to hire herself one but looked shell-shocked, and although she’d tried, she still resembled a drugged-out whore.

It was no surprise that the DNA results came back a full match. 99.9 per cent that couldn’t get much better. Jett had immediately slapped in the petition, and the judge had ordered the hearing, as Steven said. We’d been sitting for an hour listening to Dina tell her lies.

Dina claimed she’d been at college studying business when she’d met Jett. Innocently, Dina declared Jett led her into the dark side of life, and when he’d finished with her, Jett pimped her out to his brother. I wanted to get up and slap the smug lying bitch, but Jett kept a firm grip on me as if he could read my thoughts. Dina’s lawyer wound up his questions, and Steven stood up.

“Miss Smith, we’ve heard a lot of testimony from you which you swear is true under oath. Starting with the claim Mr Cutter got you hooked on drugs and is still taking them?”

“Yes!” Dina sniffed and dried a tear from her eye.

“So it would be a surprise to learn that Mr Cutter has undergone several drug tests for his jobs over the last few years. The earliest dating from when Mr Cutter was eighteen, none of them has ever shown a positive result. Including one which dates from less than six months ago,” Steven asked, tilting his head at her.

Dina’s face hardened.

“They must be wrong,” Dina muttered.

“I submit the file called ‘test’ into evidence,” Steven replied, handing it to the court clerk, who passed it to the judge. “As you can see, over eight drug tests from various places Mr Cutter has worked, and they have all tested negative. Miss Smith is lying,” Steven said.

Dina shot Steven a stern look and allowed a few more tears to drip down her face.

“I’m not,” Dina whimpered.

Judge David turned to her.

“Well, young lady, I have the evidence in black and white in front of me,” Judge David responded to Dina.

“Have you ever been arrested, Dina?” Steven asked.

“Of course not!” Dina snapped.

“I’ll ask again, have you ever been arrested?”
