Me: I’m at the dining hall.

Ash: Okay… See ya soon, I guess.

I sigh and open up my social media app. Maybe Chastity has a page I could message her through. I search her name, but nothing comes up. Weird. I don’t know many teenage girls that don’t have an Instagram or Facebook page. I try searching for some other things and come up empty again.

“So, why are we here before breakfast is even ready?” Ash asks, slamming his bag on the table with a loud clunk. I shrug and he groans. “Seriously? You’re here looking for her, aren’t you?” He’s acting pissed and I don’t understand why. This girl hasn’t even said boo to him.

“Look, can you blame me? She’s beautiful, a touch sad maybe, but I want to get to know her. I know we were warned off by old Mother Cross… but I want to know why. Don’t you?”

Ash rolls his eyes at me. “One day, curiosity is gonna kill the cat, Bast. She’s hot, yeah, and there’s something about her that I thought made her special, but she’s a damn Cross. Chastity is trouble, and we are so close to getting everything we could ever want.”

The dining hall is starting to fill up with nosey gossipers, so I cut him off. “Yeah, okay. We can finish this later,” I say, and he rolls his eyes once more but nods. “So, what are your plans for after class? Want to hit the gym later?” I ask him, and he takes in a deep breath and gives me a rare smile.

“Yeah, maybe I can get Levi to ditch the robe and join us,” he says as Jonas enters the room with a huge grin on his face and a pep in his step. Ash gives me an odd look and shrugs.

“Why are you so chipper this morning?” I ask Jonas when he reaches our table. He’s beaming and seems antsy, like he’s bursting to tell us something.

“Last night, I think I met an angel.” Jonas sighs as he sits down for breakfast, stealing the last of the bacon from my plate.

I grunt and open up my bag. Since I’m here, I might as well get started on my homework for Advanced Theology. I am dreading this paper. I struggle as it is with English, and now I need to write a five page paper on a subject from an approved list. I toss my tablet onto the table and groan.

Ash gives me a look, raising his eyebrow and I shake my head. I know what he’s asking. Jonas can’t mean… No, that's too much of a coincidence. Ash growls, then picks up the menu once more. The man really needs to blow off some steam.

I still can’t get over the fact we have wait staff here for meals. The food is actually good too, even if we have to follow a strict diet. I miss greasy burgers and soda.

“What are you going on about, Jonas? There’s no angels here, just sinners in need of redemption,” I chastise.

Jonas blows out a breath, rolling his eyes. “No, man, I met her last night. She’s a true angel. She bakes the most amazing treats, she listens well, and she’s really sweet. Unlike some people that are here,” he snipes. “Her name’s Chastity and she’s new.” I feel a rush of anger as I realize he is talking about my new girl.Shit.

“Yeah, we met her yesterday. She’s awesome,” I say, and he frowns.

“Wait, is she the one you were talking about, Ash?” He looks at Ash and I wince at how red his face is. Seriously, why is he so on edge about this girl? She’s innocent. Well, at least, from what I saw yesterday.

I really need to find a way to spend some alone time with her. I’m jealous that Jonas met up with her in the middle of the night. Maybe she will be there again tonight? We don’t have anything going on later after working out, so I’ll swing by to see.

Bridget, Monique, and Scarlett sit down at our table and I try to stay polite, but when they start to bash Chastity, I find my temper rising. I need to leave before I do or say something that upsets them.

It’s better to stay on their good side, rather than anger them. I also don’t need Bridget going after Chastity, though I think it’s too late for that.

I open up the group chat and send Jonas a message.

Me: We will need to keep an eye on Bridget. She seems out for blood.

Jonas: No kidding. What happened yesterday? I hate being the last to know about shit.

Ash: I told you. New girl is Mother Superior’s granddaughter, and she’s not allowed to socialize with paupers like us.

I look up at Ash and he’s giving me a smirk. He knows I’m about to have a fit and he’s waiting for the show. I huff, then pack up my shit and leave the table. Jonas asks Ash what’s wrong, but I don’t bother explaining. I need to talk to Levi. I have an idea, and it may be the perfect solution to our pact.

Chapter7

There’s a knock on my door as I’m finishing up my lesson plan for the day. I’m not in the mood to preach, so a quick lesson and slides it is. I grunt for them to enter, and I’m not surprised to see Bast sticking his head in.

“Hey, Father, can we chat?” he asks, pulling me from my task, but it’s okay. I was about finished. I nod and he shuts the door to my office. I wave my hand for him to sit, but he shakes his head.

“No, this won’t take long. I have an idea, and I know you’re the person to talk to. I met a girl. Yeah, I know what you're going to say, but she's sweet, shy, and so damn beautiful,” he gushes, then zones out with a dopey smile on his face and I groan.

“You fucked her, didn't you?” I ask and he chokes on air, shaking his head.
