“Would you like a grand Marnier? Your first drink in the pool, I guess.”

She laughed. “Yes, my first drink with a naked man in the pool.”

He handed her a glass. “To our first skinny dip. Hopefully, not the last.”

She clinked her glass against his. “I’ll cherish this memory for the rest of my life.”

Studying her under half-lowered lids, he sipped his drink. Damn, he knew why he was falling for her. She was so transparent, so spontaneous and honest, sharing her feelings and emotions. If it were up to him, he would spend the nightmaking love to her, lavishing her with caresses and kisses.

Setting her glass on the ledge, she grinned. “This feels so good.”

He raised his eyebrows. “The drink?”

She bit her lip and chuckled. “The drink yes, but our activity is even better.”

He burst out laughing. “Ready for a second-round?”

“Any time.”

“Ah, babe.” Unable to resist such wholehearted response, he pulled her into his arms and showed her how much he cared about her.

Satiated and happy, he kept her against him, until the cold breeze of the night stung them.

“Wait a minute. I’ll get the towels.”

He reached for a towel, stepped out and immediately wrapped it around himself. Then, he held one open for her and enveloped it around her. Holding her hand, he led her to the swing on the patio, and brought over the tray of drinks, pouring a glass for each of them. Finally, he covered them with a blanket.

Cuddled against him, she sipped her drink and dozed in his arms.

Much later, he woke and checked the time. It was one a.m. and too cold to stay outside.

“Madison, let’s go inside.”

“Oh dear, I should go home.”

“No, stay here.”

“No way. Not with your mother in the house. I’m fully awake now.” She jumped off the swing, collected her clothes and slipped them on, while he did the same. “I’ll keep the blanket and return it tomorrow.”

“Sure. Let’s go. I’ll drive you, and bring you back tomorrow to get your car.”

“No, absolutely not. You go and sleep. I’ll drive myself.”

“Madison, don’t start an argument now.”

Glaring at him, she collected her handbag. “Don’t try to control me, Rick. It’s not the first time I drive at night.”

“I swear I’m not trying to control you. Just worrying about you. Please, babe, let me drive you.”

She shook her head. “I’ll call you as soon as I’m home. Don’t make me regret our wonderful evening.”

He exhaled and cursed.

She chuckled and blew him a kiss. “Bye, lover boy.” Going around the house, she hurried to her car. He caught up with her and opened the door for her.

This was a woman who would never submit to a man.

“I’ll wait here until I get your call.”
