I could get used to this. In fact, nothing would have made me happier than to experience this every day for the rest of my life.

His eyes came to me, scanned me from top to toe, and it became clear that he liked what he saw.

I made it over to where Jack was, pressed up on my toes as I put a hand to his chest, and kissed him. “Good morning.”

He smiled against my lips and noted, “You already said that this morning. Maybe you didn’t use those words, but trust me, you showed me a good morning.”

“Sorry,” I murmured.

Jack jerked backward, put his hand under my arms, and lifted me onto the counter. “Please tell me you didn’t just apologize for climbing on top of me this morning.”

I bit the corner of my lip and shrugged. “I just… well, I woke up thinking about how happy I was having finally met your family last night. It all went better than I expected, and I just love them already.”

“I’m glad, sweetheart. And a note for the future… do not ever hesitate to tell me how you feel about anything, good or bad, in whatever way feels best for you. I’ll take it as you give it, however that has to be.”

I tipped my head to the side and felt warmth move through me. “What did I ever do to deserve you? You’re so good to me.”

“You’re Dakota. That says it all.”

He had the perfect answer for everything.

“So, what’s for breakfast this morning?” I finally asked.

His hand came to rest on my thigh, and as it began to massage the muscle there, he answered, “Well, I was going to make some scrambled eggs and toast, but after seeing you walk into this kitchen wearing my tee, I’m thinking I’ve got a taste for something else.”

A shiver ran through me, which was the result of not only Jack’s words but also the fact that his hands were now both on my thighs and slowly drifting up. He made it to the hem of the shirt, pushed it up, and got a surprise.

“Nothing but my tee?” he asked.

I feigned innocence and lifted my shoulders to my ears.

Jack was not swayed. His hand shifted and his finger dipped between my legs. He touched me there and forced a moan to escape from the back of my throat.

Everything was going great.

Wonderful, in fact. But just as his finger slipped inside, a knock came at my door.

My hands flew to Jack’s shoulders, and as his finger stopped moving, we both looked toward the door.

“What the heck? Who could that be?” I asked.

“If one of my brothers or sisters is coming here like this first thing in the morning after they just saw us last night, interrupting what we’re doing, I’m going to be pissed,” Jack growled, pulling his finger from my body. “Stay here.”

Though my body was covered by Jack’s T-shirt when I was standing, I thought it was wise to let him answer the door, especially if he planned to be pissed that they’d dropped by my place unannounced.

On the bright side, I got to watch as Jack’s big, strong body moved across the space toward the door. The only thing better than seeing him completely naked was seeing him mostly naked in just a pair of sweats.

A moment later, he opened the door. I couldn’t see who was there, because his large frame filled the open space, but I got the distinct feeling it wasn’t one of his siblings. And I got that feeling when I saw his body grow taut.

My suspicions were confirmed when the person on the opposite side of the door spoke, and I immediately recognized the voice. “Oh. Oh, I’m so sorry. I think I got the address wrong. I’m looking for Dakota. Do you know if she lives in the other cabin?”

Unable to stop myself, I hopped down off the counter and moved toward the door.

“The other cabin is mine,” Jack replied. “Who’s asking?”

Before Jack could get an answer, I touched my hand to his arm, pulled the door open wider, and seethed, “What are you doing here?”

Tom’s eyes slid to the side, focused on my face briefly, and dropped down my body before returning to my face. “Dakota?”
