She dug her nails into my shoulders and arched her back. “You’re so big.”

“You’re so tight,” I said into her skin. “You feel so good, Rachel.”

The bed dipped and creaked as we moved against each other, bucking and writhing with pleasure. Wave after wave of desire built up within me until my blood turned molten, and I couldn’t see anything else.

All that mattered was the woman writing underneath me, my undoing.

I placed my hands on either side of the headboard, caging her in. “You’re making me so hard, Rachel.”

Rachel threw her head back and moaned. “Don’t stop, Bernard. Please.”

I slammed into her and groaned. “I won’t.”

The sound of her moans reverberated inside of my head as she writhed and squirmed underneath me. I glanced down at her, at the blonde hair splayed over my pillow, and my stomach tightened. When she fixed her gaze on me, my heart pounded louder in my ears.

Why was she able to drive me so crazy with one look?

One touch?

Covered in a thin sheen of sweat, she bucked with wild and animal-like abandon until my own release came, and I exploded inside of her. She shook and writhed as she held me to her,my name a chant on her lips. Once my breathing evened out, she unlocked her legs, and I rolled onto the bed beside her and stared up at the ceiling.

Rachel exhaled and pulled the sheet up to her chin. “That was amazing.”

“It was.”

Once her breathing was even, and I knew she was asleep, I twisted to face her.

I wanted Rachel Booth in my life.

I needed her to be.

Chapter 3: Stop

Bernard

Somewhere in the room, there was a loud buzzing sound. I groaned and fumbled in the darkness, a headache pounding in the back of my skull. Abruptly, I sat up, threw off the covers, and peered into the darkness. When the buzzing stopped, I breathed a sigh of relief and ran a hand over my face.

Then it started again, and I jumped to my feet.

I crept around the room until I found my pants in the doorway to the room. With a frown, I fished my phone out of my pocket and squinted at the name flashing across the screen. After shooting a quick look over my shoulders at Rachel’s sleeping form, I took my phone and stepped outside.

The living room was shrouded in moonlight.

I rubbed my eyes and pressed the phone to my ear. “This better be good. Do you have any idea what time it is?”

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Shaw. I know it’s late, but there’s been an emergency.”

“What kind of emergency?”

“There’s been a fire in the basement of the company,” Mary replied after a brief pause. “The CEO and CFO have already beencontacted, along with the heads of departments. I was instructed to call you.”

I balled my hands into fists at my side. “How bad is the damage?”

“The fire department is trying to contain the damage, sir,” Mary, my assistant, replied. “I don’t have an exact report, but I can try to find out for you.”

“Please do.” I blew out a breath and stood up straighter. “I’ll also need a car sent to the Regent’s hotel.”

“I’ll have a car for you within the hour, sir. Is there anything else you need?”
