Saff's voice was winded. "No, no eyes. King?"

"No, no eyes."

Saint huffed. "No eyes, but we have Montgomery."

I had to know. "Secondary Montgomery?"

Her voice sounded like the sweetest nectar. "Alive and kicking. Please go get that arsehole, Rook."

"On it."

Gabe's voice was the one that came through. "I see him in the crowd. He made a left up ahead. I'll head him off."

"Where do you think he's going?"

Gabe's voice was clear. "He's going for the car."

That made sense. Outside with the crowd, he'd be easy to lose. Except I had a nagging feeling. "I'm playing a hunch."

Instead of going right, like Gabe instructed, I went left, heading up the stairs onto one of the taller residences. The network connections between the houses and rooftops made it easy to leap from building to building. I hoped the fuck I was right. The helipad was four buildings southeast.

I slammed through the door of the roof, going full tilt, thankful for the ledge at the top and my experience doing some long jumps.

Lungs burning, legs feeling like lead, I waited at the rooftop. Had I been right or had Gabe been right? "Gabe, report."

"I lost him in the crowd. I'm still searching."

In the distance, I saw a helicopter coming in. But was it coming for him? Oh fuck.

Blood hummed in my veins, and I tried to take control of my breathing. But nothing worked until I knew for sure. I could hear stomping feet coming up the stairwell of the building. And when the rooftop door slammed open, I stepped out of the shadows and grabbed the man that came through in a chokehold.

A deadly calm settled over my body once I finally had my target. "I've got him. Target acquired. I have Antonio Igno."

He threw back an elbow. I took the hit and tightened my hold. With his free arm he clawed at his neck, trying to reach back for me, but I held on tight. And when he tried to slam me backward, all I did was wrap my legs around him in a jujitsu hold. Holding on. "You'll never hurt her again."

I held on until he tired and finally fell to his knees and onto his side.

And as I sank down, I finally released him. I drew my gun and turned to aim at the door just in case anyone was coming. Igno always had a plan B. Always. But no one came.

The helicopter hovered two buildings away, then it suddenly banked left and flew off. He had no other resources. He was down. I had bagged Rogues’ number-one target. He was going to pay for everything he'd done.

He moaned on the ground, and I held my gun steady. "Uh-uh, you're not getting up.

He frowned up at me. "You can have all of it. All of the money."

"Would it surprise you to know that I don't want the money? I have family. Money is irrelevant."

"Money is never irrelevant. Go on, take me in, if you think you can make charges stick."

"Oh, that's interesting that you think you're going to be charged. You are going into a very deep dark hole. And no one is ever coming to get you."

Nissa

Westin held my hand as I asked, "Have you been back here recently?"

He shook his head. "No. Not since… you know."

We stood in front of the house in Surrey. One that apparently had been meticulously maintained.
