I also noticed that the flat mostly looked back to normal. Some of my snow globes were missing, but for the most part you couldn’t tell that anyone had broken in.

“Should be good as new."

His hand brushed my hip, and he gave me a warm smile. And just like that, as if last night he hadn't been murmuring dirty things in my ears about all the things he wanted to do with me, as if he hadn't come all over my stomach, now he was feeding me lunch. What the hell was going on here?

This is called having someone give a shit about you. Buckle in.

As I watched him grab two bowls and plate some pasta, I couldn't help but wonder again, if it was wise getting used to this.

Westin

You are playing with fire.

I’d made a mistake last night. And she’d pulled back today. Getting involved was a mistake. This was not the mission.

It could be worse. You could have fully given in.

I needed my head on straight. How the hell did I keep my head on straight and keep on mission?

While Nissa packed a few things, I picked up my phone to text the one person who might have some insight. I could have blown it last night. I was losing my shit. I needed to figure out what the fuck to do. There were really no other options. Honestly, I needed the advice.

Advice, sure. You know you're fucked.

KING: What's up?

ROOK: How bad of a fuck up is it if you hook up with a client? Technically not a client, but a witness, so to speak.

King wasted no time because the next thing I knew the chat title said, Rook got his dick wet, and there was another person added, too. Fucking hell.

SAINT: You got your dick wet, did you, mate?

ROOK: Shut the fuck up. Why did I even bother?

KING: Lol. Relax, kid. He's just giving you a hard time. It's not the end of the world. You just don't tell Gabe.

ROOK: Why the fuck would I tell Gabe? I'm talking to you two to figure out what to tell him.

Saint sent a laughing emoji and replied.

SAINT: Are you really asking what the fuck to do? Say nothing. None of this matters. Gabe doesn't need to know. Also, try not to fuck her again, would you?

ROOK: I didn't fuck her, I just crossed the line.

King came to the rescue.

KING: Ah, fuck it. I'm making a phone call, we gotta talk through this.

It took another three minutes before we ran through all the specific protocols to get on a secure line, and they called me.

"What?"

Lock laughed. "Aw mate, you sound strung out. That bad?"

"Look, I shouldn't have called you. That was a mistake."

Lock laughed. "No, you should have called me. I'm like your big brother."
