“I’m just saying if you’re really concerned, maybe you should give me a peek at the panties’ drawer. Or the lingerie one. Either one will work, so it’ll give me an idea of what I’m signing on for here.”

“You aren’t taking me seriously.”

Elio cupped her cheek, his expression growing more serious. “I’m taking everything you’re saying very seriously, Gianna. But nothing you’ve said is anywhere close to a deal breaker for me. If Sam had hang-ups with that shit, that’s on him. As far as I’m concerned, those things are just small parts of what make you you. And in case you can’t tell, Gianna, I’m crazy about you.”

“You are?”

“Crazy. About. You.” He gave her a soft kiss on the forehead.

As always, he’d found the perfect words to make her anxieties fade.

Then he pulled away, still holding her face in his hands as he looked into her eyes. “So when I get home, we’re moving in together,” he said again, in no uncertain terms.

She couldn’t come up with any other arguments against what he was suggesting. Probably because it was too good to be true.

“Promise me,” he prodded, mistaking her silence as disagreement.

“I promise.”

“Awesome. So we’ll do the dating thing until April, until my time with the team is up. Maybe on weekends when we’re not on the road, and I’m home in Baltimore, you can come down and stay with me, see the games.”

She smiled. “I would love that.”

“And I’m pretty sure there are going to be a lot of times when I sneak up here for a single night. Just because.”

“Just because?” she asked, batting her eyelashes flirtatiously.

“Just because I’ll be aching to hold you, touch you, kiss you. To cuddle with you, sleep with you in my arms while I let you steal all the covers.”

“I don’t steal the covers.”

He chuckled. “Of course you do. I don’t doubt for a second that I’m going to wear grooves in the interstate between here and Baltimore, simply to see the way your body is changing as this little firefly grows inside you. I don’t want to miss a minute of it.” He placed his hand on her belly as he said the last.

Gianna swiped at the tears that were flowing freely down her cheeks. There was no way she was stemming the flood, hormones and happiness were a powerful combination.

“Gianna,” Elio said, pressing his lips to her cheek, kissing slowly down her neck.

“Hmmm,” she hummed, tilting her head to give him better access.

“Where’s your bedroom?” he asked, never lifting his head.

“Last door on the right,” she said, her eyes closing in bliss.

Elio ran his tongue the length of her neck, not stopping until he reached her ear. “Get there.”

She shivered at the dark, sensual command.

Rising together, she took the hand he proffered, then led him to her bedroom. He dropped her hand when they entered, twisting her away from him to lower the zipper on her dress.

His fingertips brushed her spine as he pulled the tab down, every soft stroke producing a shudder of need.

“God, I missed this,” Elio admitted, pulling the dress off her shoulders, pushing it until it dropped to the floor.

Gianna stepped out of the fabric.

“Turn around. Let me see you,” he demanded.

She spun to face him, lifting her hand to her stomach when his gaze slid down her body and stayed there. Elio reached out, covering her hand.
