“And you? When do I find out what you like?” Sloane breathes, her head resting on my shoulder.

I pause in caressing her.

She has no idea how close the beast I’ve imprisoned wants to be free to feel her reach out to me, to pet me in adoration.

“When you’re soft, pliable, and unlikely to break.”

A small gasp escapes her.

“Before then, undress our boy. Look him in the eye and take your time.” I finger the button at her nape. Tonight will be a tremendous trial to my control, but I will persevere.

Sloane deserves Tácito’s tender touch before I take my turn. Although I want my touch to be romantic and endearing, I know my limits. I’ve held back for too long. Am holding back now. My strength and forbearance are at their limits. One touch from her will break the chains I’ve bound myself in, and God help me if I scare her with my need because there will be no escape for her.

Not tonight. Not in five years. Not in a hundred lifetimes.

“Have I told you how gorgeous you are?” Tácito says the moment she begins unbuttoning his shirt, his voice thick with emotion.

Right! Tácito will be our buffer.

He is correct. Sloane is captivating. She enraptured me in her dress from the moment her father escorted her down the aisle. An illusion wedding dress displayed her sexiness while covering the scars she hates so much.

“It’s a shame you can’t keep this on,” I say, fingering the material.

She stops pulling Tácito’s shirt from his pants and pushes my hand away from the back of her dress. She swings around to face me with an affronted scowl. “You will not rip my dress, Valentino Amadeo DeLuca!”

“Wow, you used all three of my names.” I grin, unable to hide my amusement. “Are you daring me?”

She hugs herself. “No, I… Please don’t destroy this dress. I really really love it.” She turns to the side to speak to Tácito while protecting her gown from me. “Please talk some sense into him so I can keep this dress in one piece.”

“Really, Valentino?”

I shrug. “If you recall, she was upset after she saw the dress. I can buy her a wedding gown for every day for the rest of our lives if it makes her happy.”

“It won’t have the same meaning.” She punches my shoulder with enough power to push my unprepared body two steps back. “The wedding coordinator told me that you and Tácito chose this dress. It’s perfect and I’ll never want another. So don’t you dare rip one stitch. If you can’t control yourself, I’ll undress myself.”

As much as my heart softens at her sentimentality, something she rarely allows herself, tonight is my night. “Not tonight, you won’t.” I swing her back into my arms and begin unbuttoning her. “You do as you are told. As you’re used to following commands from your superior officer, know that tonight I outrank you. Now finish disrobing Tácito while I take care of you.”

She huffs but I can hear the underlying smile in her voice. “Yes, sir!”

As the material gapes, exposing the sinuous lines of her back, I succumb to the need to press my lips against her warm brown skin. Inhale the floral fragrance that drives my hunger to new heights. I push the fabric from her shoulders until the dress pools at her feet.

From over her shoulder, I watch Tácito curl his hands into fists as his breathing deepens. Sloane has divested him of all but his boxers.

I cup Sloane’s breasts. “Do you want to touch her?”

His nostrils flare. “When don’t I?”

Her breath stutters.

“Then show her that you like what you see.”

Before the last word leaves my lips, Tácito raises Sloane’s hand to his mouth. He seduces her with soft presses of his lips to her skin before stalling her breath by swiping his tongue along her decadent flesh, all the way to her shoulders.

I pull out the hairpins and flowers holding her hair in its immaculate do. “Tell me, principessa, how do you feel?”

“Cherished. Cared for. That for the first time I’m where I belong and I don’t have to hide myself from you guys.”

“Then we’re doing something right.” Tácito pauses in his sensual discovery of her body to brush his fingers against her cheek. “It’s a shame you didn’t know this was how we’ve felt about you for years.”
