“We’re going to La Rosa Comedy Park,” Megan shares, then looks to me. “I’ll meet you downstairs in the car.”

Grayson steps out of the way as she passes.

“I’m so sorry about dumping my drink on you earlier. I meant it, I’ll pay for the dry cleaning.”

The slight curve of his lips lightens his eyes. “Don’t worry about it. It’s me who owes you an apology. You wouldn’t have spilled it if you hadn’t been uncomfortable in that situation. I’m sorry I made you feel that way.”

“It’s ok. It was time for me to go. I feel bad for interrupting things between you and Olivia.” Lies, all lies, Em. And he told you he likes it when you’re honest with him.

“Are you sure about that?”

Why did he have to ask?

“No,” I admit.

A smile lifts the corner of his mouth and he runs his tongue across his bottom lip. That little movement turns the inferno in my vagina up a notch.

“Emma.” He takes a couple steps, closing the distance between us. “Olivia doesn’t mean anything to me. She’s an ex-girlfriend. We parted on amicable terms.”

“You mean you became friends with benefits?”

A light chuckle escapes him. “Yes.”

“Are you still friends with benefits?”

“No. Would it bother you if we were?” His eyes study mine, awaiting my response.

I swallow and lower my head, not wanting to admit that it would.

A gentle touch of his hand lifts my chin to meet his captivating gaze. “Tell me the truth.”

“Yes,” I whisper. “It would.”

Placing his hand on my cheek, he holds me steady as he kisses me. The touch of his lips turns my whole body into a scorching inferno. His other hand takes hold of my hip and pulls me against his body. With tender movements of his lips, all my thoughts go blank as I’m filled with a sensuous, utterly mesmerizing euphoria.

When he takes his lips away, I lean into his embrace.

“You look stunning in this dress and those fuck-me-heels. Be careful tonight. You’re going to draw a lot of attention.”

His thumb grazes across my lips and with a peck on my cheek, he leaves.

Barely able to form a thought, I stroll down to Megan’s car. I get in, still in a daze and she giggles.

“What happened to you?”

“He kissed me.”

“And?”

“His lips are like cinnamon and chocolate. Hot and delicious.”

Laughing, Megan starts the car. “You’re such a dork. Well, what now?”

“I don’t know. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

Megan drives off to the comedy club and my thoughts are still up in my apartment as the tingling memory of his kiss torments me.
