She held up her hand to silence me. “No. I’ll help you get the laptop, but only to show you that you’re wrong about him.”

Letting out a deep breath, I nodded my head, unwilling to push her any further. Bailey would come to the realization herself about the kind of man her father was. If we kept shoving everything at her, it would more likely blind her to the truth even more.

“Only problem with the laptop would be that it is most likely encrypted,” I pointed out, running a hand down my face and groaning. “Bridgett would need to create a decryption key, and with the gala less than a week away…”

“We don’t need a decryption key.” Bailey turned her full attention to me. “I have one.”

“You have one?” I asked, dumbfounded. That was surprising.

She shrugged nonchalantly. “Yeah. It’s in my purse. Looks like a tube of lipstick, except it’s empty. Inside is a small USB drive. I’ve had it for a few years now. Lina had this hacker kid she used from time to time make me one in case I ever ran into a jam.”

Now that was surprising.

“And what were you using this little device for,a stóre?” I teased her.

“My porn collection,” she deadpanned. I nearly choked at her response. Her blue eyes twinkled and then the minx winked at me before laughing. Jesus, her laugh was like listening to an angel. Pure and innocent. I wanted to hear her laugh more.

I wanted to be the reason she laughed.

The reason she was happy.

I wanted to be there when she cried.

Hold her when she was sad.

If only we could keep her.

But I couldn’t begin to fathom how a relationship like ours would work. Our father had named my brother and me both as heirs. We’d rule the next generation of our family together, something that had never been done before. In taking this position, it meant we’d have to give up not only a marriage that revolved round love, but also our proclivities for sharing.

That had never been an issue before.

Even though we shared, we’d never fallen for the same woman.

Until Bailey.

There was something about our blue-eyed captive that set our souls on fire. Our blood boiled in our veins whenever she touched us. I mean, Jesus, the woman had me harder than a rock with just a simple glance. It was something neither of us had experienced before.

And it couldn’t last.

We were the heirs to one of the most powerful families in the Pacific Northwest, and nothing we deemed to be good could last.

Seamus had grown quiet as I studied the board in front of me. His jaw clenched and his hands tightened into fists, the thoughts in his mind no doubt taking a dark turn. I wanted to touch him. Comfort him, but the reality of the situation was that I didn’t know if that was all right.

Because I didn’t know him.

I didn’t know either of them.

And yet, I wanted to. Despite the obvious Stockholm syndrome I was sporting.Fuck.All those years of dissingTwilight, and here I was pulling a Bella Swan. I did have a better excuse than her, though. Two, actually. Two wicked, wicked tongues.

I wasn’t ever telling them that, though.

“So what’s the plan?” I tilted my head to get a better look at him. “I’m assuming there’s a reason you woke me up at the butt crack of dawn.”

It wasn’t that we hadn’t gotten any sleep. Because we had. Too much, in my opinion. This would have been way more worth it if they would have spit roasted me like they promised. Instead, I was tucked into bed like a child and told to sleep.

Which I had.
