“They’re both brilliant. I’ll cook us something good when we get back home.”

Home. Such a simple word but one that meant so much to him. He’d not had a ‘home’ in such a long time.

Hayden handed him the bag.

“Open it. I hope I did right.” Hayden looked nervous, and Ashok took out the gift, ripping at the paper, not wanting to wait another minute.

He had no words when he finally opened it up, just looked up into the face of the man that had seen his secret and, instead of teasing or taunting, had bought him the perfect gift.

It was a pair of dark-purple lace briefs. The fabric was soft, and he could imagine how it would feel against his skin. He knew quality like this wouldn’t have been cheap either. A pair like this would have cost the earth.

“I shouldn’t have bought them. I’m sorry. I just… I don’t know what I was thinking, actually.”

Ashok reached out and took hold of his hand. “I love them, thank you. I have to admit it’s a surprise, but really, thank you.”

To both their surprise, he leaned forward, placing a kiss to Hayden’s cheek, his lips lingering. One turn of Hayden’s head and their lips would meet, and Ashok prayed that he would. Maybe he should take the chance.

He pulled back, gauging Hayden’s reaction. His eyes were hooded, and a look that could melt his resolve peered back at him.

“Can I kiss you?” Hayden asked, once again reading Ashok’s thoughts. Not wanting to ruin the moment, he nodded briefly.

Their lips met for the briefest of seconds before he moved in, the previous apprehension being driven out by an urgency to devour the man in front of him.

Soft, pillowy lips flavoured with the taste of coffee and a hint of mint fired his desire.

Hayden slipped his hand behind his head, caressing his neck. It’d been so long, longer than he could remember. Ashok grabbed his shirt, fisting it in his hands, pulling him closer.

It was everything he’d wanted without knowing it.

They broke apart, their breaths coming heavy and hard.

“I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to do that,” Hayden said, resting his head against Ashok’s. “The first moment I saw you, I was attracted to you.”

“Me too, but then you were a bit of a dick.” Ashok laughed quietly.

“You weren’t so nice yourself. I was ready to throttle you at one point, but every time you got under my skin and instead of hating you, I just wanted you more.”

“I don’t know when it all changed for me. You were infuriating, blowing hot and cold all the time. I never knew which Hayden I was going to be faced with.”

Hayden kissed him again. It was gentle this time, and Ashok sank into his arms, wrapping his own around Hayden’s waist. It was a little awkward with them sitting sideways on the bed, but they made it work.

Quinn bounded into the room and jumped up onto the bed. Vic followed closely behind, standing next to them both.

“Mum says breakfast is ready and to get yourselves to the table. And stop kissing. Jeez, Hayden.”

They broke apart laughing, and Hayden helped Ashok to stand.

“Let’s go before they come looking for us, too.” Hayden placed his arm around Ashok’s waist and led him back to the dining room.

“Well, somebody looks happy,” Dianne said, placing a plateful of poached eggs with broccoli, tomatoes and wholewheat toast in front of him.

Hayden squeezed his hand underneath the table.

“Yes, Mum. We’re very happy.”
