“No, stay here a while longer. I just want to hold you close.” Ashok didn’t argue. It wasn’t often they got to do this. One or other of them was always working or needing to be somewhere. Ashok felt himself drifting back to sleep, the warmth from Hayden’s body seeping into him, warming him through.

“How do you feel? Are you alright this morning?” Hayden spoke quietly, still half asleep.

“I’m fine. A little sore, maybe? It’s nothing. I’ve had worse injuries from dancing.”

Ashok got out of bed, handing Hayden his coffee.

“Here, don’t let it get cold.” He climbed in next to him with his tea, and they sat in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Ashok was sure they were both thinking about last night. He knew he was and how much he wanted to do it again. He wondered how soon but also knew that Hayden wouldn’t want to hurt him. It wasn’t in his nature. He knew that now. Past Hayden was just that, in the past.

“What are you up to today?”

“This and that. I have the day off again today, so I thought I’d go and do some food shopping. I used the last of the bread for the toast, and we have a scraping of butter left.”

“Take a taxi. I’ll give you the money, or if you go later in the day, I can pick you up on the way home.”

“I’ll let you know.” He put his mug on the nightstand and took Hayden’s from his hands. “There’ll be time for that soon enough. For now, let’s just stay in bed.”

They stayed there until Hayden had no choice but to get up and go to work.

“I’ll see you after work, Ash.” Hayden left him with a smouldering kiss, one that Ashok could still feel half an hour later. How he’d gone from a life of solitude to one full of friendship and Hayden. He couldn’t believe his luck.

He had plans in the city. There was a certain shop he wanted to visit. He’d googled it and knew exactly where it was. It was going to be a surprise for Hayden, and he couldn’t wait to show him later.

It was almost eleven when he left the house, making the short journey into the city by bus. He’d started to think of this as his home in the short time he’d lived here. The people were friendly—far more so than down in London—and everything seemed so much cleaner, including the air.

He walked through the park, noticing the trees coming into bud, white snowdrops peeking through the brown earth. Days like today made him glad to be alive, especially after a night like last night. Things were finally starting to come right for him. He could feel it in his bones.

Finding the store he was looking for was easier said than done. It was tucked away by the railway station, a small sign above the door. In London, there was a whole district where you could find sex shops, but here in the leafy city of Chester, they hid them out of sight.

A bell above the door jingled, signalling his arrival, and he glanced around nervously. Not that anyone would know him.

“Can I help you?” A man in his forties spoke, smiling at him. He didn’t seem seedy or creepy, just a normal guy doing a job.

Ashok tucked his hair behind his ear. An anxious habit he’d had since he was young.

“I’m not sure. I was looking for something for a friend.” As he looked around, he noticed a section dedicated to men’s underwear, and he walked towards it, his eyes drawn by an electric blue lace bodysuit. He checked the price. It was far more than he was prepared to pay, especially if he was going to buy something else too.

“For your friend?” He hadn’t heard the guy come up behind him and jumped at his closeness.

“Erm, yes. For my friend, but I don’t think I can afford it. I was actually looking for something else.”

“Sure, tell me what it is you need; I’m sure we have it here.”

“A butt plug, maybe?” Ashok could feel himself getting hot under the collar. Ordinarily he was shy and would never have done anything like this in his life.

“What size? We have anything from beginner to expert. Maybe I could interest you in a dragon dildo?”

Ashok shook his head. He had no idea what that was and no wish to find out.

“I don’t think so.” He whispered. He had no idea whether or not Hayden was into that at all.

The man looked at him, his head tilted. “I think this might work for you…or your friend.”

He handed him a small blue butt plug, not unlike the colour of the bodysuit.

“I could do you a deal. I’m not like these high street chains that have set prices. How about forty quid for the two?”

That was almost a week’s grocery shop. “I’m not sure I can afford that.”
