I rested my head against him as he wrapped his arms around me, holding me close. This really felt nice. The only problem was that I wanted to feel this with Jungle instead. Lifting my head, I stared into Van’s eyes, and he lowered his lips to mine and softly kissed me. That only made my nipples harder. He noticed. I pulled him back to me and gave him my tongue.

I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing. When his hands slid to my ass, I flinched, but I didn’t stop him. When his lips went to my neck, I opened my eyes and stared into space, imagining that Jungle was the one about to make love to me. He pulled away from me and gently slid the strap of my summer dress over my shoulder. So much for me declining sex tonight.

After he slid the other strap off, my dress fell to the floor, and I was before him in all my naked glory. Suddenly, I was completely embarrassed. The bruises on my stomach and hips were extremely pronounced. Those bruises were everywhere, but they were extremely noticeable in those places. I’d gotten beaten more than I ever told anyone about. My ribs were broken and bruised more times than I could count.

“You had a baby?”

I swallowed hard as he noticed my C-section scar. Lowering my head, I said, “Maybe this isn’t a good idea.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any harm. You’re beautiful just the way you are, Chelsea.”

He stepped closer to me as he pulled his shirt over his head then lifted me in his arms. “I’m going to take care of you tenderly. I feel like that’s what you need right now.”

I closed my eyes. “No. I need to be fucked.”

The only man I wanted to make love to me, didn’t want me. Experiencing it with anyone else right now was a no-go.

CHAPTER7

JUNGLE

“Have you heard from Chelsea? She hasn’t answered my calls.”

I shook my head as Kennedy and I sat to wait for the wedding to start. “I haven’t talked to her since Tuesday. This is Kennedy. Kennedy, this is my boy Jericho.”

She smiled at him and said, “Nice to meet you.”

“Likewise,” he responded and nodded. Turning his attention back to me, he said, “We talked briefly Thursday while she was on her lunch break. Manman said she’s been quiet. She went to work yesterday, but when she got home, she closed herself up in her room. I’ll have to go by there after the wedding if she doesn’t show up here.”

I nodded. I couldn’t be concerned with Chelsea right now. She’d made her decision to box me out, so I planned to stay on the outside of whatever she had going on. Kennedy was looking around, and suddenly, she got a little fidgety. Before I could address it, the music started, indicating the ceremony was about to begin. Fawn and Amiko quickly sat on the other side of me. “Oh my God, Sandrene looks so beautiful,” Fawn whispered.

For whatever reason, that revelation only reminded me that I wasn’t at her wedding. There was so much I missed out on while I was locked up. Well, not exactly. Half that shit wouldn’t have gone down had I not been locked up. Fawn grabbed my hand and asked, “You okay?”

I nodded as an usher escorted Mrs. Anissa to her seat. I wasn’t tryna talk to Fawn about shit, especially not at this wedding. Kennedy was extremely quiet, but what put me on edge was her pulling her hand away from mine.Oh, like that?Somebody was here that she knew. I started looking around. Nearly everybody here was a part of the Berotte family in some way. I knew just about everybody here. As my eyes scanned the crowd, they fell on Rondo.

Rondo was DJ’s brother-in-law. DJ was married to his sister. He wasn’t in Beaumont as often as I was, but we’d hung out on many occasions and were cool. That very thing was about to be challenged. His eyes had pinned Kennedy to her fucking seat. I could appreciate that he didn’t interrupt Mel’s wedding, but some shit was gon’ hit the fan once it was over.

I glanced at Kennedy to see she was practically trembling. Fawn nudged me. “Why you frowning like that?” she whispered.

I shook my head. There was no way I was gonna tell her shit right now. She was more hot headed than me. I’d let her get at Kennedy once the wedding was over. I didn’t need to talk to either of them to figure out what was going on. Rondo was the other nigga she was seeing. Me noticing that her pussy wasn’t like I left it was because she was fucking him too. If she wasn’t, then what was she nervous about?

After watching Lynn, Lexi, and Shavozz walk down the aisle, and Mariena throw flower petals, the music changed. It was time for Sandrene to walk in. When she did, she took my breath away. She was so gorgeous. However, as I gazed at her, I noticed Chelsea sitting in the back, blowing kisses at Sandrene.

Although she’d mentioned having a date, that shit caught me by surprise. I recognized him from the store she worked at. He was usually walking around supervising shit whenever I saw him. He grabbed her hand and kissed it, and I could feel my face twitch. I didn’t know why I was getting angry. She wanted me, and I’d turned her down. I had a whole ho sitting next to me. I supposed I was the one who was toxic.

As I brought my attention to Sandrene, she winked at me. I nodded and followed her with my eyes to the altar. Jamel looked like he wanted to scoop her up and run right out of here with her. His face was red, and it looked like he was fighting tears. I admired their bond. I’d never witnessed them arguing. Jamel worshipped the ground that woman walked on. Seeing him so emotional at the sight of her calmed me down.

Once we all sat, I glanced over at Fawn to see she was frowning too. Whenever I was on go, she was on go, and she didn’t even know why. Her ass stayed ready. I grabbed her hand and held it somewhat tightly as I noticed Kennedy had scooted a little bit. To fuck with her, I scooted closer to her. I swore I thought I saw sweat pop up on her forehead. I leaned over to her. “You good? You seem nervous.”

She turned to me and tried to force a smile. “I’m okay.”

Her legs were shaking. She was everything but okay. Rondo stood from his seat and walked out to the foyer. I watched her eyes follow him. He wasn’t exactly quiet, so others had turned in their seats to see what happened. When he got to the door, he made more noise than I was sure he was aiming for, but his anger was very present. I could see that shit clear as day.

I could see the frowns on a lot of people’s faces. Isaiah stood and walked out in the direction he’d gone. Kennedy seemed to relax a bit more. She couldn’t have been naïve enough to think this was over. The wedding continued on without a hitch, but Rondo never came back in. Isaiah had made his way back in shortly after, and I noticed him glance our way.

Jericho glanced over at me, and I noticed Ali looking our way as well. Everybody seemed to know what was up. When Jamel kissed Sandrene, everybody applauded. After the officiant announced them to the crowd once again, Kennedy said, “I need to go to the ladies’ room.”

“Me too,” Fawn said.
