Kennedy looked so fucking flustered. She was trying to get the fuck out of dodge, but I refused to make it easy for her ass. I grabbed her hand once we were dismissed and led her out with Fawn and Amiko on our heels. We were gonna clear all this shit up sooner rather than later, because we damn near walked right into Rondo when the door opened.

“What’s up, Rondo? You straight, man?” I asked as Kennedy’s eyes widened.

“Naw. I’m tryna figure out what Kennedy doing here on your arm.”

I frowned slightly. “We’ve been talking for about three months now. How you know her?”

“She’s my daughter’s mother, and we’ve been working on our relationship for the past year. She was my woman. Key word… was.”

“Rondo, I’m sorry,” Kennedy said.

“Man, fuck you,” he responded immediately, bringing attention our way.

“Man, I didn’t know,” I said to him.

“I know. I’m glad I found out she was a no-good ho though,” he said as he walked away.

He was hurt, and I was pissed. “I knew I didn’t like this bitch for a reason,” Fawn said as Kennedy turned to me.

“Jungle, please, you have to understand.”

Before she could tell me what it was that I needed to understand, Fawn slapped the damn spit out of her mouth. “Shut the fuck up. You in danger and don’t even realize that shit.”

I slowly shook my head as I noticed Chelsea watching all this bullshit unfold. At that moment, instead of anger, I felt embarrassment. I was the player. I didn’t get played. My first attempt at monogamy made me wonder why I was even trying. Turning back to Kennedy, I said in a low voice, “Let’s go.”

“Jungle, let me—”

“I said let’s fucking go before I fuck you up. You don’t realize who you done fucked with, girl.”

Fawn was nodding, cosigning what I’d said. She was ready to get at her. Her face had twitched a couple of times, just as mine had earlier. That Patterson ice was about to freeze the area. I walked away with Kennedy following me. Fawn was right behind her ass, making sure she didn’t try anything.

In my peripheral, I could see Chelsea watching us. Shit, everybody was watching us. When we got to the SUV, Jericho had caught up with me. “She not worth it,” he said.

“I’m just about to let Fawn have fun for a minute, then I’m gon’ drop her ass off to the airport and let her sit there the rest of the day.”

“A’ight. I’m gonna go check on Rondo. This is fucked up.”

“All the way fucked up.”

I got in the back seat with her ass as my driver glanced back at us. Fawn hopped in the front seat and told him to take it to the house. My heart was hard, and my facial expressions had to be expressing that because Kennedy was trembling in fear. She wouldn’t look at me.

Turning to face her, I said, “You know a lot of the shit I’m involved in, and you still decided to try to play me. I bet yo’ ass wasn’t even in Houston last weekend. Rondo is my boy, and that makes this shit even worse. Had you caught me in my twenties, I would have fucked you up. Now, I don’t put my hands on women. Lucky for me, Fawn is here to handle you. Get ready to catch them body shots.”

Kennedy didn’t say a word, and I could see Fawn preparing to fuck her up. She’d tilted her head to the side, stretching her neck muscles. My anger had worn off. I didn’t even wanna go back to the wedding. Facing Chelsea and the nigga she was with had proven to be too much. She seemed to be enjoying his company.

Once we got to the house, before Kennedy could close the door, Fawn had gone upside her head. I slowly shook my head. Her ass loved to fight. I thought that shit would have gotten old for her, but clearly, she was just as rowdy in her thirties as she was in her twenties. I left her to it and went inside the house.

This royal purple suit was fly as shit on me, but I was ready to come out of it. Before I could make it to my room, my phone chimed. I pulled it from my pocket to see a message from Chelsea. I rolled my eyes. I opened it to see,Are you okay?

I left her ass on read and dropped the phone to my dresser when I walked into my bedroom. This wasn’t how today was supposed to go. I should have been at the reception, acting a damn fool. We’d talked about how we were gonna turn up after the wedding since Mel didn’t want a bachelor party. Since he had his very own private stripper, he wasn’t tryna be caught dead in a strip club.

I didn’t wanna leave Kennedy alone in my house with Fawn last night anyway. When I heard a scream, I slowly shook my head. Hopefully, Fawn didn’t go too far. Although I’d never met Kennedy’s daughter, I didn’t want her to be motherless, no matter how triflin’ her mother was. I wondered where she was telling Rondo she was going. She didn’t have to tell me shit, because I wasn’t her man. She owed him an explanation of her comings and goings though.

Grabbing my phone from the dresser after taking off my suit jacket, I sent a message to Vegas.Don’t let Fawn go too fucking far.

He responded immediately with a short video of Fawn sitting in a chair, huffing and puffing like one of the little pigs. I shook my head then finished taking off my shit so I could get comfortable. By the time I was done and had gone back downstairs, Fawn was on the couch. “Where the fuck she at?” I asked.

“Sitting outside. I told her to keep her ho ass out there. She didn’t deserve to be a house bitch. Chain her ass to a fucking tree and let her run in circles.”
