I chuckled. “You know that woman ain’t drinking.”

“So, I’m glad things worked out with Chelsea.”

“Me too. She actually came to my house before I could even call her. I wish that shit with Kennedy never happened. Being with Chelsea… man. My heart soft as shit, man. I ain’t never felt like this over a woman.”

“You felt this way for her all along, didn’t you? I could kind of sense it.”

“Yeah. I umm… I didn’t sleep on the floor.”

Jericho frowned hard, but I felt like I could come clean about that. Before he could respond, I said, “Nothing happened, but I held her a lot. She was so scared and didn’t want me to be far away. If I moved, so did she. When I went to the bathroom, she stood outside the door. If she couldn’t do that, whenever I would go back in the room, she would be on the floor in a corner. That shit broke my heart, and it brought out my sensitivity for someone other than my family for the first time. I was hesitant because I didn’t want to offend you or hurt her. So I guess Kennedy was more of a test run to see if I could be monogamous.”

His facial expression didn’t ease for a minute. When it did, he shoulder bumped me. “I ain’t gon’ trip since y’all together now.”

“If we weren’t, I wouldn’t have told you, nigga. You have my word that nothing more happened though.”

He glanced at me. “So nothing happened last night?”

I frowned hard. “Nigga, she my woman now. I’m talking about back then.”

“A’ight. This the last conversation about my sister. I can’t handle it. I’m pissed about this nigga. You know I would have handled him easily.”

“I know, but you can’t risk it. With Chelsea being involved, the police could be watching her. If she’s around you, then you would become a suspect too. Our best bet is to let Ali handle it.”

He nodded, but I could tell he didn’t like this shit one bit. He took a deep breath as Rondo approached us. I stood from my seat at the bar and extended my hand. He slapped it, and said, “What’s up, man? Chad said you needed to holla at me.”

“Yeah. You got a picture of Darlena? Her ass in the wind.”

“Naw, but I can get one. Let me save your number.”

I gave him my burner number, because I didn’t need no bullshit in my main phone. As he saved it, Mr. Sheldon, Dylan, and Isaiah walked in. I was shocked to see Mr. Sheldon, but I supposed Buffalo Wild Wings wasn’t exactly a strip club. Jericho was wrong as hell for this wack shit. He shook Jericho’s hand and gave him a half hug. I stood from my seat and shook his hand as well.

“Jungle, Anissa said you’re the only one we need to get married off. So I got my eyes open.”

I chuckled. “No need, Mr. Berotte. I have a lady now.”

His eyebrows lifted, and I couldn’t help but laugh. “Who is she?”

“Jericho’s sister, Chelsea.”

He smiled slightly and shook my hand again. “I can see in your eyes that she’s the one. I just hope that she and Kaysyn can fix this before it’s gone too far to be fixed.”

“Me too.”

I didn’t bother saying anything more because I didn’t know how much he knew. He already knew more than what I thought he knew. He patted my back then headed to the other side to speak to everyone else. I glanced at the time to see it was only nine. I would be back at the hotel room early as fuck. I’d better stop and get me a bottle so I could get fucked up by myself.

As I took a swig of my beer, my phone rang. When I saw Fawn’s number, I answered quickly. “Hey, sis. What’s up?”

“Hey. You at home?”

“Naw. What’s up?” I asked as I noticed Vegas was calling me.

“We have a lil heat. I got a phone call from an unknown number. They were threatening me about shit with Roulette.”

“Fuck. Did the voice sound familiar?”

“No.”

“Did you tell Law?”
