Page 43 of Where You Should Be

He chuckled, and I joined him. “Normally, I would have. I can’t even explain why I haven’t.”

“Because you’re sensitive to Jericho. You don’t want to make things worse for him, although I don’t believe that it would. He loves you so much.”

“I know. I love him too. He carries a lot of guilt about what happened to me. Not so much with Jonas, but with Jules, because he left us there with him. I understood that he had to leave. Jules would have killed him. Him not being there was what kept me alive. Had Jules known exactly how to find him, he would have killed him… then me.”

“So I know he’s practicing a lot of restraint right now. I feel like Jericho, Ali, and Jungle respect us so much until they will think about the shit they do before they do it… even if no one would fault them if they did, especially if it will affect us in some way. Seneca and Kaysyn are connected to us, but what they fail to realize is, so are they. I believe they feel it would be easier to shun them since Seneca is my brother-in-law and Kaysyn is Alexz’s sister-in-law. We accepted Jericho into our family even after all the bullshit with Chad.”

Bullshit with Chad?I didn’t remember him telling me about that. Clearly, Isaiah saw my confusion. “Shit. I can’t say any more about that. I thought he’d told you. You can’t say anything either.”

“I won’t.”

I surely would be discussing this with Whitney. They were leaving tonight, but they were only staying away a couple of days. “Well, I can tell you since I can see your wheels turning. It wasn’t something that was discussed in a setting like this. It was just something that happened. Jericho had a relationship with Lexi. They weren’t a couple, but… you get it. She was in love with Chad, but they weren’t together at the time. When Lexi got pregnant, Jericho contested paternity.”

“The little one she has now?”

“Yes. There was no beef between the two of them or anything like that. They actually handled the situation like adults. After it was determined that Chad was the father, Jericho bowed out. However, with him working for Ali, it kept him around.”

“Wow. I didn’t know that. You have my word. I won’t say a thing.”

“So, if we can accept Jericho into the family, what does that say about you? Seneca came in causing trouble. I told you what he did to me. No matter what happens, you are family. We always work shit out. That’s just what we do. We love each other through all the pitfalls, fights, and adversity. You can’t help what happened to you. Just ask God for His help to get through it.”

“Thank you, Isaiah. So, we will see what happens Monday.”

“That we will.”

I hugged his neck, then stood from my seat and grabbed my purse. Jungle had dropped me off and said he’d be back in an hour. I’d been here for fifty minutes. “Chelsea, despite all that’s going on, I can tell you’re happier.”

“I am. Jungle helped me with that. He helped me to be happy with where I was at the moment, even before we became a couple.”

“That’s good, but don’t base your happiness on anyone. Be sure your happiness is within. While he can add to it, you should be happy within.”

“Thank you, Isaiah. I am, although losing him would kill me.”

He smiled and walked me to the door. “You know you can call me any time. Houston is closer than Dallas, so hopefully, with time, we’ll be seeing more of you.”

“Hopefully.”

He peeked out of the window and said, “Yo’ man is here.”

I giggled like a schoolgirl as he opened the door. Jungle got out of the SUV and walked to the door to shake Isaiah’s hand. “Take care of her, bruh.”

“Yep. I got her… always.”

Jungle kissed my head, and we walked away. Monday couldn’t get here fast enough. Although I was nervous about what it held, I wanted it to just be over. When Jungle got in, he asked, “How did it go?”

“Good. Isaiah said you could probably be a counselor.”

He frowned, causing me to laugh. “Naw. Hell naw. What made him say that?”

“I told him some of the things you said to me. You give great advice, but I told him that sometimes you’re full of shit.”

That nigga nearly caught whiplash as fast as he turned his head to me. I laughed as he rubbed his hand down his beard. “You finna be full of shit too, ’cause I’m finna shove this shit right into you,” he said while grabbing his dick.

“Shiiiid, I can’t wait.”

He chuckled and took off for the hotel, occasionally glancing at my legs. “I can’t wait to have those thick muthafuckas wrapped around me while I’m stroking that lil pussy, baby. Damn, you so fucking fine.”

“You fine as hell too. I don’t go for niggas who ain’t.”
