“Well, lucky me.”

“I’m lucky too. I’m glad you’re more than what’s on the surface, because I was in desperate need of everything underneath it. Thank you for being the man that I needed, Jungle.”

When he got to the traffic signal, he leaned over and kissed my lips. “I ain’t forgot that you said I’m full of shit sometimes though. So don’t be trying to soften me up.”

“If I were trying to soften you up, I would be offering foot rubs and manicures. You have nice looking feet for a man.”

“Make sure you tell Fawn and Amiko that shit tomorrow. Always hating on a nigga.”

I giggled, because I remembered Fawn calling his feet crusty once. She said he refused to lotion them for years, saying it made him feel soft. I laughed for nearly an hour about that. “I’ll be sure to do that, baby, but only if you do everything you promised tonight. I need to get fucked up like you promised.”

“Shit, say less, C-Mar. Say fucking less.”

CHAPTER17

JUNGLE

“Hit me with some of that lean, Vegas.”

I’d taken Chelsea and Manman home, promising to be back later. I needed to get to my house to hear what Fawn and Law had to say. Vegas also needed to update me on Darlena. When he brought me the doubled Styrofoam cup of purple stuff, I took a sip and waited for them niggas to get done fucking in my got damn house. If Fawn hollered one more time, I was going in there and break that shit up.

I took another sip as Vegas chuckled. I turned to him with a frown on my face. “What the fuck you laughing at?”

“That girl always did whatever the fuck she wanted to do. I’ll never forget how she called that fucking meeting here before we found out Roulette was a snitch bitch. She shot a nigga in his dick.”

I chuckled as I slowly shook my head. I’d taught her ass how to shoot. “She was on her queen pin shit, huh?”

“Hell yeah. When she first met Law, and the meeting at Pilar’s was supposed to be starting, she said them niggas had to wait because her fucking song was on. When she got up there, she was all on Law. Gutta was pissed,” he said, then cracked up.

Just when there was a quiet moment, I heard her yell, “Yes, Law! Fuck me, daddy!”

“She musta forgotten who the fuck I am,” I said as I stood and gulped some of my lean.

I set the cup on the table and headed upstairs to her room. I could see Vegas shaking his head. When I got up there and saw the door was open, I almost came unglued. “You nasty muthafuckas…” I started as I approached the door.

When I got to the doorway, they were standing there fully clothed, laughing hard as hell. “Fawn Elaine, you almost got fucked up in here!”

“Hello to you too, Milton! You put up with it longer than I thought you would. Chelsea got that ass mild as shit. You coming up here draped up and dripped out, nigga. You look good,” she said as she hugged me and laughed.

“Law, I can’t believe you was in on this shit.”

“Nigga, the way she was sounding though, you almost got what you thought you was finna get. Real shit.”

I slapped his hand then pushed Fawn in her head, and she slapped my arm. “Where my girl?”

“She’s at home. I told her I would be back later.”

“Better be. Me and Amiko got shit planned. She’s on her way to pick me up.”

“Naw. Y’all asses ain’t going nowhere right now, not until I figure out what the fuck going on around here.”

“Jungle, for real? Come on na. I’m almost thirty-seven years old. You ain’t gon’ keep punking me like this, and in front of my husband!”

I turned to her with a frown on my face. “A muthafucka is out there tryna get at’chu. He ain’t tryna shoot you in the foot like Megan. He wanna take yo’ ass out! Why would I be cool with you flipping and flossing or swangin’ through H-Tine?”

“First of all, nigga, we ain’t in the nineties no more. Only old muthafuckas talkin’ ’bout flipping and flossing or swangin’. You can say that shit with some respect. I done pushed out two fucking babies and on the same night. You betta put some respect on my name… big brother or not. Da fuck!”

She tried to brush past me, but I hooked her around her waist and lifted her to my shoulder as she screamed. Law slowly shook his head as she screamed at him. “Don’t be shaking yo’ head. You don’t ever have shit to say when Jungle talking to me like I’m a kid.”
