I nodded. “I’ll think about it.”

“You could also achieve the same level of possessiveness by just flirting, though. Spending time with the guys is sure to piss Ervo off, but walking up to them, and smiling at them? Priel hates it when I look at another guy too long.” She flashed me a grin. “Did he threaten to kill them ifyoutouchedthemyet?”

My eyes widened.

“It’s a loophole, for sure. Ervo seems like someone who plays by his own set of rules. If his rules aren’t technically broken, he’ll know he has no ground to stand on. And he’ll probably add that to the rules, but until then, it’s fair game.”

“You’re right,” I admitted, biting my lip. “He didn’t freak out at that guy when I crashed into him.”

He’d just picked me up and set me on my feet, away from the guy.

“You can get pretty damn flirty with a couple of touches. Fluff your hair, make your clothes a bit disheveled, accidentally run into someone…”

My heartbeat picked up. “Sunny thinks I should just kiss someone.”

North’s eyebrows shot upward. “I tried the kissing thing with other fae. Do not recommend it.”

My excitement fizzled out. “You’re right. It’s a terrible idea.”

Sunny strolled over to us, and we scooted back to give her space. “You guys look like you’re coming up with an evil plan, and I want in,” she declared. “I’m sodamntired of Teris.”

North explained, “We’re trying to think of a way to make Ervo jealous. He finally started admitting that he might have feelings for Mare outside of the brotherly thing he’s been clinging to.”

Sunny’s eyes lit up. “Oh, girl. This is my thing. I’ve got it.”

We waited.

She knew she had us on the edge of our seats, figuratively.

“Dance party.” She spread her hands through the air, as if she could see the headline. “We make sure the fae understand that everyone’s just having fun, no one’s forming bonds or anything. And we turn up the music, and we shake our asses. The unseelie ladies will feel the girl power in it, and they’ll be so down. It’s perfect. And you’d better believe that stone-cold phoenix will be sitting in some tree, watching you grind against some sexy basilisk.”

North snorted, but I grinned.

“It would work,” North admitted. “But grinding on someone other than your mate would have to be outlawed. These guys are virgins; do you know how much over-excited jizzing would happen if there was grinding?”

Sunny cackled. “The more the merrier.”

“No,” I said, though I was laughing too. “We can’t do that. Maybe we make it a looking but not touching thing?”

“Or, we tie the hands of any fae who wants to come in, so he can’t grab any of the good bits. Then, any physical contact is up to the woman involved,” Sunny said. She was still grinning wickedly. “Come on, we can totally make this happen.”

“Alright, I’m in,” North agreed.

So yeah, that’s how I ended up on the party planning committee, throwing together a rave.

I didn’t knowwhere the music was coming from, but it was so loud it shook the trees.

The fae had pulled out some kind of wine that tasted stupidly good, and made us feel kind of buzzed.

And Dots and Sunny had indeed managed to block off the area—with the help of a handful of fae dudes and a wall of tall, thick stone. No one on the outside could see in, unless they were in the sky or trees.

Every fae dude who came inside had his hands tied around his back. Sunny was using rope that they could easily break, but everyone had been warned that breaking the rope meant leaving the party.

So, the rope stayed tied.

And damn, did the party begin.

Every single one of us ex-humans were there, and it was safe to say that the unseelie chicks surprised all of us with their level of enthusiasm—and their dance moves. I assumed their excitement was because this was the most human-like thing they had done in a long time, but it could’ve been something else.
