Think About Ice Cream

Olivia

“Ciao Marco! Come stai oggi?” I smiled as I tried out some of my newly learnt Italian. He nodded in approval as he stood like a giant guarding Raya’s door.

“Very well, thank you Signora Jones,” he replied politely. It was strange. He had such a warm voice even though he was one of the most intimidating men. After Giovanni that is.

I raised my hands out to my sides as he replied in English.

“Italian please! I am trying my best to learn here! And please, call me Liv.”

His lips tugged at the corners before he said, “Scusate Liv.”

I grinned. One day, I would get a big fat smile out of this man if it’s the last thing I do.

“Are they still asleep?” He nodded again. “Okay. I will just go and wake Sani first.”

Walking to the end of the hallway, I reached the last door and cracked it open slowly. What I was met with this early in the morning, I was not prepared for. There in Sani’s bed was Giovanni, fast asleep. His insanely ripped torso was exposed and he was only wearing a pair of grey shorts that stopped just above his knees. He was on his back with one huge arm above his head on the pillow and his black hair was tousled in all directions. His jet-black eyelashes fanned his cheeks and his lips were parted slightly as he breathed deeply. He looked...different. Cute if that was even possible. Ridiculous, because his enormous body barely fit on the bed and his feet hung off the end. I smiled as I stared at this gorgeous man who looked almost angelic while he slept. Unlike when he was awake and took the form of Lucifer himself.

The flush sounded in the adjoining bathroom, which caused me to gasp and Giovanni to be startled awake. Our eyes met and his were filled with complete confusion for a few seconds as he found his bearings. Sani came parading out of the bathroom with a big smile.

“Liv! Gio slept in my bed last night because he was having a nightmare,” Sani squealed happily and my eyes filled with amusement as they found Giovanni’s wide ones. I couldn’t help the smile that formed on my lips as I folded my arms across my chest.

“That is not exactly what happened Sani!” he growled as he pulled himself to a sitting position. My eyes involuntarily roamed his chest and delectable ab muscles as they flexed with his movement. I forced my view back up to his face but the wicked grin that was already there made me realise I was too late. He noticed.

“What a great brother you are, Sani. I am sure Giovanni just used that as an excuse to sleep in your racing car because it is the coolest thing in the world,” I smiled down at Sani’s beaming face.

“Oh, so we are back to calling me Giovanni now?” His deep, husky voice sent a wave of pleasure to my core as he climbed off the bed with a cheeky grin. Oh hell. He was in a playful mood. I hadn’t witnessed this side of him before and I didn’t like it. It caused a reaction in me that was extremely unwelcome.

I narrowed my eyes at him as he stalked towards me like a predator. His dark irises twinkled with mischief. “Shame. I liked the way you called me sir,” he winked as he stopped a foot away from me. I refrained from admiring his mouth-watering physique and kept my eyes locked on his.

I opened my mouth to give him a snarky remark but Sani interrupted us.

“Liv! Are we going to get gelato today? You said last night. Remember? You promised!” His voice turned to a whine, and I sucked my bottom lip with my teeth. I couldn’t help but notice Giovanni’s eyes darken as they fixed on my lips and I quickly released them.

“Well, I need to speak with your mamma first, Sani. Check if it is okay for us to leave the premises.”

“Or you can ask Gio. Gio please! You can come with us!”

My eyes widened as I watched Sani tug on Giovanni’s tattooed arm and something flickered across his features. “I am sure your brother has lots to do today, Sani,” I quickly added, giving Giovanni an easy way out of this, but to my surprise and horror, he looked from Sani to me with a devilish grin.

“Actually, I would love to come. I have to move a few things around and it can only be for a few hours, but it is meant to be a scorching day today and I would really love a delicious...creamy...gelato right now. Cool us down, right Olivia?”

I opened my mouth but no words came out. What the fuck is he doing? No. No, I can’t spend a day with him. I won’t. Sani was already leaping about the room like a gazelle and Giovanni strolled past me before stopping to whisper in my ear. “How can I say no to spending the day with you when you are looking like that? A gelato is not all I would like to eat.”

My cheeks flamed crimson as I felt a wetness pool between my thighs, drenching my knickers under my green summer dress. Oh my god. I cannot believe he just said that to me. I heard him chuckle before he left the room and I had to try to focus on steadying my pounding heart. I thought last night was unbearable...today is on a whole new level.

“Here, put some sunscreen on Sani,” I commanded as I squeezed a little into his hand before I smothered Raya’s face and arms in the white cream.

“I don’t need it,” he scrunched his face up into a look of disgust as he stared at his hand. I have figured this little man out now. Everything must be on his terms. If he doesn’t understand why or how something works, he won’t do it. Even down to simply putting on a little sunscreen. Sighing, I glanced over at him.

“Do you know why you wear seatbelts in the car?”

His little head nodded back at me. “Because it is dangerous if we crash.”

“Exactly. Seatbelts protect you from getting hurt. Sunscreen does the same thing but for your skin. It protects you from the ultraviolet rays of the sun.”
