“So, are you going to marry her?”

My head snapped up to his and my face creased with confusion as for a moment my head was only full of Olivia. Then I recalled what a fucking shit show tonight was before I had seen her sexy, stubborn ass in that club.

“No.”

“Then, can I?” he chuckled into his glass and I closed my eyes. “She is something else. Don’t think I have ever seen a more gorgeous woman in my life.”

“By all means, go for it! She is all yours. You’d be doing me a fucking favour,” I grumbled. I didn’t have the energy to talk about this right now. I didn’t have the energy for any of it.

“Zio is pissed. And I mean another level of pissed.”

I threw my arms over my head, gripping the back of my chair and sighed. No. Really did not have the energy for this.

“When he returned and heard you had told Camilla you wouldn’t marry her and then stormed out of the club with the nanny over your shoulder, I thought his head was about to explode.”

I opened my eyes and looked at Max properly for the first time. His own amusement was dancing behind his eyes but also concern was evident. No one wanted to get on the wrong side of our uncle.

“Let me guess? Toni told him?”

“What were you thinking, Gio?”

“I wasn’t...thinking. That is the problem. I can’t think straight when it comes to her.”

“Camilla?”

I chuckled, shaking my head. “No Olivia.”

“The nanny?” His voice raised and eyes widened before he looked like the cat that got the cream. “I fucking knew it! I knew there was something going on there. I’ve been trying to pry it out of you for days!”

“There is nothing going on. Not now,” I muttered, lifting my glass to my lips and looking at the wall.

“What do you mean?” His face creased in confusion. “You haven’t fucked her?”

I clenched my jaw and gave him a warning look. “No, I haven’t fucked her. Believe me, I’ve been trying but... it's complicated.”

“Ah. The ‘it's complicated’ girl. They are the hardest to crack.” His lips turned up into a twisted grin and I frowned.

“No, it's not that. It’s not even about getting her in bed anymore,” I groaned as I felt a piercing headache coming on.

“Then what is it about? Wait...do you love her?” He immediately sat forward, his eyes bulging.

“No. Of course, I don’t fucking love her. Don’t be a daft prick.”

“You sure as hell look like a man in love. You look like shit.”

“Ah. Thanks.” I grumbled as I moved my legs off my desk. “Is the party over? Everyone gone?” I asked, changing the subject swiftly.

“Yeah. Zio apologised on your behalf to Francesco, said you had a personal crisis to deal with but would make it up to him soon, and then stormed out with Toni, his little lap dog padding along behind. The Aianis left shortly after and I kicked the rest out.”

“And mamma?”

“She never came back to the club after she spoke to zio. The men said she went up to bed.”

I nodded, feeling suddenly exhausted. “Thanks Max. I owe you.”

He stood up, sensing my need to be alone, and gave me a pointed look, “Sort your shit out Gio. You know boss will not go easy on you for this fuck up.”

“Don’t you worry your pretty little man bun about me,” I smirked and he chuckled, shaking his head.
