I had kept myself busy, stayed out of the house as much as possible and locked myself away when I was here to avoid her at all costs. But when I opened my eyes, there she was. “Okay. Spill. What the hell is going on with you?” Gigi narrowed her eyes as she studied my face. I could feel my cheeks flaming as the flashback of earlier came to mind.
“What? Nothing,” I grumbled, turning my back to her at her vanity table to start my make-up for my date with Luca tonight. Yes, I know. What a hussy I am! Participating in sexual acts with a forbidden man and going on dates with another.
“Come on! You look... radiant. Whatever it is that has got you all hot and bothered, I think you should do more of it,” she winked as she stood up behind me and started to brush my hair.
“No. No, I definitely should not.”

I groaned loudly and rolled my eyes. She would continue to pester me about this for days if I didn’t at least give her something. “Fine. I – I found myself in a compromising situation.”
“Meaning?” Her tone could not mask her excitement as the brush paused halfway down my hair.

“How do I look?” I asked, spinning around on the stool. Gigi looked me up and down carefully and then clapped her hands.

Smiling, I stood up and looked in her floor-length mirror. I’d decided to go with a simple yellow tea dress that gave a little flirty view of my cleavage but was modest enough for a first date. It was snug around my waist in a flattering way but fanned out at my hips into a flowy skirt. It was pretty, feminine and elegant. I'd taken Elle’s advice and left my hair down in soft waves and just added a touch of mascara, bronzer and lipstick to finish the overall look.
The buzz of the intercom signalled that Luca was downstairs and I gave Gigi a kiss on each cheek before I grabbed my bag from the kitchen counter and made my way down. I decided to opt for flats because there was no way I could walk miles around those cobbled streets in heels without making a fool of myself. I don’t know how the Italian women here do it!
“Wow! You look... mozzafiato!” Luca exclaimed when I stepped out of the shabby green door onto the street.
“I hope that means something good?” I giggled and his kind eyes crinkled at the sides as he smiled.
“It means breath-taking.”
“Oh. Well, thank you. You look lovely too,” I wasn’t lying. He really had made an effort. He was wearing dark jeans and a short sleeved loose white shirt with a few buttons undone, revealing his toned chest. His arms were on display and it was clear he liked to work out although they were not in the same league as Giovanni’s muscles.Liv...don’t go there.
