Countdown

Olivia

Packing my suitcase was bittersweet. I really didn’t want to leave this place and this bubble that Gio and I were in. It’s crazy how much a few days can change everything. I left Italy set on ignoring his advances and keeping my guard up, but he somehow had managed to break down every protective barrier I had around myself. He really had shown me a completely different side to him this weekend and I could no longer deny my feelings. I liked him.Reallyliked him. More than I have felt towards anyone before in my life. He just seems to get me. He understands me in a way that I don’t even have to explain myself. It’s refreshing after feeling so alone for so long.

I am really looking forward to getting back to Italy and filling Gigi in on my weekend. She is going to be beside herself when she finds out I really did fuck his brains out. Five times, to be exact. We had sex again last night and in the shower this morning. We can’t get enough of each other. It was animalistic. I can’t believe this is what I have been missing out on all these years. Although, I am pretty sure it is sex with Gio and not just sex that makes it fucking incredible.

I am not naïve to the fact that he will not be this version of himself all the time when we get back. But I am starting to wonder why that really was. The man I have spent time with this weekend is wonderful. Sweet, caring, funny, playful, cheeky and bloody sexy. Why can’t he be like that all the time? Why is it that he must revert to being arrogant, intimidating and terrifying towards people? I didn’t understand it. Was it a coping strategy for his stressful job? Was it to mask insecurities? I couldn’t tell but I was going to find out.

There was a knock on my door, and I peered over my shoulder as the devil himself walked in with a mischievous grin. I knew that look.

“No! Unless you are here to help me pack, you can leave me alone!” He wrapped his arms around my body from behind and nuzzled my neck affectionately. I giggled as his stubble tickled my skin. “I mean it, Gio! We have to leave in half an hour, and I am nowhere near ready.”

“We have to leave when I say we have to leave, so don’t stress bambola,” he husked against my ear. I turned in his arms and wrapped my arms around his neck.

“Well, that might be true, but your entire family will be downstairs waiting for me, and I am not about to have one of them, most likely Sani, come running into my room to find out what's taking so long and scar him for life!”

He chuckled lightly and leaned down, giving me a slow and sensual kiss. So unfair. When he pulled back, he smirked, knowing he had me in the palm of his hand. “Why do you always taste so delicious?”

“Lip balm,” I quipped back, and he shook his head.

“No, it's you. You are delicious,” He went in for another taste and I pressed my fingers to his lips, halting him.

“Are you going to help me pack?”

“No,” he smirked.

I rolled my eyes and turned around, continuing to fold all of Gigi’s outfits that I didn’t need back into the suitcase. He let go of me and flopped down on my bed, playfully. I say my bed, but I haven’t even slept in here since the first night.

“Maybe we can make use of the private jet’s bedroom instead? Fancy joining the mile high club?” he flirted.

“You are outrageous! Your family will be in the next room! Definitely not!”

He groaned and propped himself up on one elbow as he watched me intensely.

“You’re staring again!”

“Admiring,” he corrected, and I smiled to myself. Such a charmer. “You are staying with me tonight.”

I chuckled at his commanding tone. He likes to think he is in control, but we both know that it is only in the bedroom. “Is that so?” I raised one eyebrow and he smirked.

“Yes.”

“I need to go home. See Gigi. Give her back her clothes. Put a wash on. Do a food shop. Get some sleep,” I gave him a knowing look. We hadn’t had much sleep in the last two nights.

“All of that sounds extremely boring compared to what you would be doing if you were with me,” he teased.

“Life is all about balance, Giovanni. The mundane tasks make us appreciate life’s blessings,” I couldn’t help the smile that played on my lips as I pushed my toiletries into the front of the suitcase.

“That is possibly the nicest thing you have ever said to me,” his face lit up and I stopped what I was doing to stare at him.

I looked at him blankly. “What did I say?”

“That I am a blessing. The greatest blessing of your life.”

“I don’t think that is what I said,” I shook my head, trying to hide my amusement as he reached out for my hand, but I jumped back just in time. “You are a pleasant distraction at the most,” I teased.

His eyes bore into mine with friskiness and I knew I was in trouble. The excitement bubbled inside me as his dark eyes narrowed. “I am going to give you five seconds to run from me, Olivia. One.”
