I stood up from my chair slowly and walked towards him. I could feel Cecilia and Elle's eyes on us and I stopped just in front of his parted legs. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me down forcefully onto his lap, lifting my legs over the side of the chair, wrapped both his arms around me tightly and buried his head into my hair. I was shocked. I looked over at Cecilia and Elle, who had small smiles on their faces but quickly looked away pretending to be busy when they caught me.

I could feel the tension in Gio’s body as he held me tighter to him. “Is everything alright?”

It was a stupid thing to say. I knew everything was not alright, but I wasn’t sure what I could do if I had no idea what was going on. He breathed in my scent, and I felt his lips on my neck before he pulled back, resting his head on the chair. He looked up at me and I swear I saw worry in his eyes. I pushed a strand of his black hair out of his face and he blinked up at me.

“Just a lot of shit has gone on in the last 24 hours and I had no idea. It’s a mess and I am going to have to deal with it all immediately. I am sorry, Bambola, but it is probably best you go home tonight after all,” he sighed.

Even though I had always planned to, I couldn’t ignore the disappointment that settled in my stomach, but I wouldn’t make him feel worse about it. “It’s fine. I was always going to anyway.”

He gave me a knowing look and I smiled. He squeezed me tighter into him and I ran my fingers up and down his toned, tattooed forearm, admiring the ink work and hoping it did something to soothe him.

“Tomorrow. We need to talk. There are some things I want to tell you,” he whispered. There was worry in his tone. It was unnerving to hear as he always spoke so confidently.

“Okay... about what?” I asked quietly, searching his eyes for the answers. He lifted his hand and traced his fingertips along my lips as he thought carefully.

“About me. About who I am. I want to be honest with you and tell you everything,” he said deeply. “I just hope you don’t hate me when I do.”

I frowned; my eyebrows furrowed. “Why would I hate you?”

I could see the emotion in his eyes, but he hid them with a small smile. “Just remember who I am to you. Please. That’s all I ask.”

What?! He was speaking in riddles. Suddenly, the pilot announced we were landing and I reluctantly slid off his lap onto the seat next to him. He grabbed my hand, lifting it to his mouth as he kissed each of my fingers, and then looked out the window, still holding my hand in his lap.

I was so confused. What was he talking about? Who was he? And why would I hate him?

Are you home yet?

Olivia

As we stepped off the plane, I saw three cars parked on the runway. An incredible red Lamborghini and two black SUVs. How many cars does this man own?

Cecilia turned to me as we approached the SUV and I helped Raya into her seat. “Thank you for coming this weekend, Olivia.”

“Thank you for inviting me. I don’t feel like I really did much,” I said guiltily, realising I hadn’t really helped all that much with the children this weekend. I guess I had been a little preoccupied. She smiled warmly and touched my arm.

“You have done plenty.” She climbed into the car, and I shut the door behind her, before it pulled away, leaving only myself, Gio and a few of his men behind.

“Angelo is going to drive you back. I am sorry I can’t do it myself, but I really need to get back to the house,” Gio said as he pulled my waist into his body and looked down into my eyes.

“It’s okay. I can just get a taxi. I don’t need Angelo to- “

“Don’t fight me on this Liv,” he grumbled, and I paused. He really wasn’t in the mood, and I didn’t want to make things worse, so I just nodded. His face softened slightly as he lifted my chin with his fingers and forced me to look up at him. “Don’t worry, okay? I will sort out my shit and then we will talk tomorrow.”

“Okay. I will see you tomorrow.” I went to walk away but he pulled me straight back into him, slamming me against his chest.

“What? No kiss goodbye?” he smirked.

“I thought we were hiding this. Now we are back?” I argued, peering up at him through my lashes. His face twisted. As an answer to my question, he leaned down and grabbed my face fiercely in his hands and devoured my lips. I melted against him as his tongue slid into my mouth and then he teased my lips with his teeth. “I’m going to miss this,” he husked.

“It’s only for one night,” I giggled, but his expression was hard to read. That worried look was etched on his features once more. Swiftly, he bent down and pecked my lips again before walking away with one of his men towards his Lamborghini. “I will text you later. Keep your phone on you or I will worry.”

I saluted him, which caused him to smirk as he climbed into the driver's seat of his luxury car.

The drive back to Gigi’s seemed to fly by as I was so consumed with thoughts of everything that happened over this weekend and how different everything was now. I smiled at the memories of the best weekend of my life, but I couldn’t ignore the nervous flutter in my stomach. Something seemed off. What was he so worried about? What did he have to tell me? I had a feeling I would not sleep a wink tonight.

I thanked Angelo as I climbed out of the SUV. Climbing up the stairs awkwardly with my suitcase, I faffed about trying to find my keys for the front door.

“Ciao? Vivi qui?” A smooth voice from behind me made me jump and turned to see a man in his late twenties dressed in a very smart, tailored suit that probably cost more than my entire wardrobe in the stairwell. He was attractive with short brown hair and sparkling blue eyes, but he reminded me of some of Gio’s men in the way he carried himself. Intimidating although the smile on his face was friendly.
