You aren’t afraid of me, are you? Should I be? Most people are.

Are you dangerous? Yes.

You should know. I am a monster to many.

About who I am. I want to be honest with you and tell you everything. I just hope you don’t hate me when I do.

Oh my god. It’s true. I knew it in my bones. He was part of the mafia. Which means… His whole family is too! Cecilia, Elle, his uncle…

“His uncle,” my voice choked with shock and Riccardo smirked.

“The asshole that is Salvatore Buccini? Yes, he is the Boss. Giovanni is next in line to take over.”

I shook my head. How could I have been so stupid? This whole time they had all been lying to me. Having a good laugh behind my back? I had been in the company of criminals for weeks. I slept with… Oh my god. I dropped my head in my hands as the panic started to grow.No. No. Don’t have a panic attack now Liv. This is not the time.I squeezed my eyes shut and started snapping my hair band against my wrist, trying to focus on breathing. No! Hold my breath.

“What is she doing?” I heard Lorenzo ask. I felt Riccardo shrug his shoulders next to me. When I couldn’t hold it any longer, I exhaled loudly and opened my eyes. I was feeling slightly calmer. No longer on the brink of a panic attack at least.

“I get panic attacks,” I managed to breathe, and I could feel their amused eyes watching me.

“You are in with the wrong crowd then, my love,” Riccardo chuckled.

“What do you want from me?” I whispered as I regained my senses.

“Like I said. I need you to deliver a message to Giovanni. Tell him we want to meet him. Alone. He must not inform his uncle. He will know how to get in touch with us. And if he refuses, which of course, he will, give him these.”

Lorenzo handed me a large brown envelope and my eyes snapped up at the terrifying man sitting to my right. He nodded for me to go ahead and open it. I pulled out blown up photographs of…me. And Giovanni. One of me on my bike, riding home from work one day. The next was of us climbing into his Ferrari the day we went to France outside my house. And last…oh shit! It was Gio nestled between my legs as I leaned back on the edge of the hot tub completely naked. My eyes were screwed shut in pleasure and my head tilted up to the night sky.

“That is my favourite,” Lorenzo smirked, and I shoved them back in the envelope quickly, my whole body on fire with mortification.

“You’ve been following me?!” I shouted.

“Since the ice cream day, yes,” Riccardo replied. “That’s when we knew you were important. But we obviously needed to be more discreet after that, didn’t we, Frankie?”

The man sitting in the front seat turned around and I gasped when I saw he was wearing an eye patch. He gave me a death glare as if I was the one that did that to him, or I was at least responsible for it. It made me cower back in my seat. “Frankie, here, was caught that day spying on you all and your boyfriend decided to make him pay. Show her Frankie.”

The man lifted his eye patch, and I slammed my hand over my mouth at the grotesque sight of his mangled eye.

“An eye for a spy. Very creative of Giovanni,” Riccardo stated and nodded for Frankie to lower the patch and turn around. I felt sick. Giovanni did that? He took someone’s eye? Had he killed people? Of course, he had. He was the fucking mafia! Bile rose in my throat, and I knew I had to get out of here fast.

“She looks a little pasty, Father. Do we have a sick bucket?” Lorenzo chuckled next to me.

“Not cut out for this life, my dear?”

I slammed the photos into Lorenzo’s chest. “Let me out of here now. Deliver those to him yourself. I don’t want any part of this.”

Riccardo’s low, evil chuckle vibrated from deep in his throat as he ran his eyes over me.

“Too late for that little girl. You are in this whether you like it or not. Deliver the photos and relay our message. We will give him two weeks to meet with us or he knows what will happen.”

“What will happen?” I choked out but I already knew the answer from the sadistic grin on this monster's face.

“You will be ours. To do whatever we like with…before we kill you,” he smirked, and my eyes widened. I gulped down the terror that had emerged again. “But don’t worry, sweet cheeks. He will agree. A man in love will agree to just about anything to save his woman.”

“In love? He isn’t in love? You have this all wrong! I am nothing to him but a nanny. I work for his family!” I hesitated when that cold smile grew.

“We will see. You are free to go.”

The back door opened, and I practically scrambled out like a rat scurrying for food. My bags were thrown out of the door and onto the path after me. As soon as the door slammed shut, the SUV revved and zoomed off down the road. That bile that was still lodged in my throat threatened to projectile all over the street. I grabbed the edges of a rubbish bin and puked into it violently, earning a few disgusted glances from passers-by.
