Tony raised his hands, "Easy now, boss. It's me, Tony. I like Matteo. He's a good guy, and it's none of my business what a man does in his bedroom."

Salvo let Tony go and began to pace, running his hands through his dark hair. He wanted to wring Matteo's neck for being so careless and blatantly obvious by walking into a gay bar in Brooklyn, of all places. Rumors spread fast, and there was no way to stop it.

"What are we going to do, boss?" Tony asked, wiping sweat off his forehead.

"Where's this bar, Q-City?"

"It's in Brooklyn. 403 Union Avenue."

"Stay here until I get back!" Salvo said curtly, then grabbed his leather jacket, put it on, and snatched his keys off the desk.

Salvo parked his car on a dimly lit, quiet street a few blocks from Union Avenue in Brooklyn and walked toward the building with a neon sign illuminated brightly with Q-City above the entrance door.

He heard the thumping of loud music coming from inside as he approached the bouncer standing outside, a tall and muscular black man with big shoulders, dressed in tight white jeans and a tie-dye colored t-shirt that stretched across his broad shoulders.

"Need to check your ID, man." The bouncer said. He could clearly see Salvo's face under the lighted lamp post.

"You know who I am?" Salvo asked, not bothering to pull out his wallet.

The bouncer folded his arms in front of him and rubbed his chin. "Yeah. You're Salvo, the sly bastard," the bouncer replied as he opened the door.

Salvo thanked him and entered the dark hallway, with walls decorated with neon-collared designs that glowed under the blacklight.

Salvo entered the club's main area, overcrowded with men of different ages and races. Strobe lights pulsated, and a giant disco ball rotated above men dancing or standing at the bar. The smell of cigarette smoke, weed, cologne, and sweat permeated the warm, humid air.

Salvo moved through the sea of sweaty men and headed toward the bar, having a good guess that Matteo wasn't there to dance. Instead, he found him talking to a young Asian man as they sat on bar stools. Matteo's eyes widened, and he stopped chatting when he saw Salvo. The young Asian man turned to see what startled Matteo and smiled as the devilishly handsome Italian man approached them.

"Well, hello there, gorgeous. Are you two brothers? Because if so, it's a fetish I'd like to try." The Asian man said, his eyes roaming over Salvo.

He ignored the Asian man, pulled Matteo off his barstool, tossed a wad of cash on the bar, and left the crowded club.

Once outside, as the two men walked down the dark street, Salvo shoved Matteo up against the side of his Ferrari.

"Why the fuck are you pulling this stupid shit?" Salvo barked as anger brewed in his glaring eyes.

Matteo shoved Salvo back, but he was drunk and stumbled. "I can't control it! It's who I am!"

Matteo cried out when Salvo swung and landed a punch to his lip. He crumbled to the asphalt as his hands came up to his mouth.

"By tomorrow, everyone in this city, including your family, will know your secret, and there's nothing I can do to protect you," Salvo said, his voice cracking.

He hauled Matteo up off the ground, and they both climbed into his car and left Brooklyn.

CHAPTER 9

Salvo drove Matteo back to the house that he lived in with Tessa in Staten Island. The newly wedded wife was in tears as she opened the front door and wrapped her arms around him as she cried. Then Salvo drove back to his condo and called Tony at the nightclub.

"Did you find Matteo?" Tony asked over the phone.

"Yeah, right where you told me he'd be."

"Damn, boss. I don't even know what to say."

"Thanks, Tony. You did well by coming to me as soon as you found out. My uncle will know by tomorrow if he hasn't found out already. So do me a favor and make the last call at one am, then lock up the nightclub by two."

"What do you need me to do tomorrow? It's not safe.

I can get some of my soldiers here for security. For you and Matteo."
