CHAPTER 6

It was Valentine's Day, and Salvo planned to spend the evening with Bianca in Atlantic City, NJ. But first, he had to speak with Roman when he came to the house to pick her up. So at six pm, Salvo parked in the large circular driveway in front of Roman Capello's spacious home. In the summer, the house was full of color with bushes, flowers, and a well-manicured lawn, but that day, the front yard looked brown and bleak, the trees bare of leaves.

Roman greeted Salvo at the front door and stood in the large foyer of white-marbled floors. Salvo looked up at the enormous circular staircase, hoping to see Bianca.

Roman's mouth was a straight line, showing his displeasure with Salvo's proposed Valentine's Day date with his daughter in Atlantic City, a magnet for gamblers and excess on the East Coast.

"Which casino are you taking Bianca to?" Roman asked.

“Caesars Mr. Capello. I have reserved two separate rooms, too, of course."

Roman huffed. "You're a good man, but you have a reputation, Salvatore, and so does my daughter. But a young woman's reputation can be damaged," he snapped his fingers, "with the blink of an eye."

"I understand, Sir. I would never do anything to hurt or disrespect BB because I care for her deeply. I will protect her with my own life."

"Good. That is what I wanted to hear." Roman said and smiled as Bianca rushed down the stairs carrying her purse and a small overnight travel bag.

She was dressed in tight stone-washed blue jeans, a high-waisted black leather jacket with gold studs along the sleeves and shoulders over a red blouse, and high-heeled red leather boots. A big red bow was clipped into her long brown hair.

As Bianca approached Salvo, she felt a tingle between her legs when she saw how devilishly handsome he looked. Salvo felt overdressed, wearing a black suit, a black tie, and a red button-down shirt. He should have worn something more casual to match Bianca. This was supposed to be a fun night out, after all. Bianca laughed when Salvo loosened his tie, pulled it off over his head, and stuffed it in his suit jacket.

"I want her home by nine am tomorrow morning, Salvo," Roman said as he hugged and kissed Bianca on the cheek.

"Yes, Mr. Capello," Salvo responded, then took Bianca's hand, and they left the house toward Salvo's Ferrari Testarossa.

When they climbed in the car and Salvo drove, Bianca was so excited about their date and kissed him, leaving lipstick smudges on both cheeks. As they made their three-hour drive from New York, Bianca told Salvo that she had heard from her friend, Fran, that Geno Nicoletti had been hospitalized for several weeks because of a broken jaw.

"Did you do that to him, Salvo?" Bianca asked solemnly.

Salvo steered his eyes from the road to Bianca for a quick moment. "Yes, I did. Geno was not getting away without paying the consequence for offending you, BB. It's all been taken care of, and you'll never have to worry about thatpezzo di merdaagain."

She looked worried, so he placed a hand on her lap and squeezed, "No more talk about that mess. It's in the past. Let's enjoy the day together."

Bianca smiled then and placed her hand over his.

They talked during the drive and reminisced about when they were kids, which distant family cousin or friend was married, or how many children they had. Bianca would be one of Tessa's bridesmaids at the wedding, and Tessa, her sister, and her mother were so busy with all the arrangements. Then, Salvo began to imagine his wedding day and standing at the altar with Bianca.

The massive Casino and hotel were previously owned and called Howard Johnson's Regency Motor Hotel in 1977. By 1979, it was a mad dash to open casinos and resorts, with almost 50 proposals and businessmen wanting legitimate gambling licenses. Unfortunately, those days were full of shady men, and the New Jersey Casino Control Commission was created in 1977. By 1979, the first three Casino's opened, Resorts, Caesars, and Bally's. Howard Johnson's Regency Motor Hotel wasn't rebranded as Caesars Boardwalk Regency until 1983 due to all the red tape and investigations by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. Caesars then added the Circus Maximum Showroom, seating 1100 people, presenting concerts, and hosting big names in entertainment and professional boxing events.

When Salvo and Bianca arrived at Caesars Boardwalk Regency, they checked into their separate rooms, left their bags, went out on the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, grabbed a quick bite, and went to the Casino.

Bianca had never been in a casino before, so her eyes took in everything — the ornately designed carpet and slot machines lit up with dinging alarms when people pulled levers or pushed buttons, the gambling tables, crap tables, blackjack, people smoking cigars or cigarettes and drinking cocktails. Salvo enjoyed the sights and sounds, too, and he looked up at the high ceilings to see the domed security cameras and security guards in suits and the roped-off area where the high-stakes poker games were played.

However, Salvo couldn't take his eyes off Bianca and noticed a few men doing a double take or looking too long at her. He couldn't blame them and wasn't jealous, only a bit possessive as he held her hand feeling like a king. He bought her a long island iced tea and himself a glass of scotch whisky neat. Bianca wanted to play roulette, so Salvo gave her a quick lesson, and she watched other players put their chips on the table as the dealer spun the white ball into the roulette wheel. She made her first bet and put $100 worth of chips on the 7-red square for Valentine's Day.

When the dealer spun the giant Roulette wheel and placed the ball in, it landed on the 7-red square.

Bianca screamed and jumped up and down, then kissed Salvo, "I won!"

"That was just your first bet, BB. You've got a lucky streak. Keep playing." Salvo said as he gave the dealer some cash for more chips.

Later, Bianca watched Salvo play the craps table and a few hands of Black Jack, and by the time Bianca finished her fourth long island iced tea, her inhibitions had gone out the window, and she pulled Salvo close to slide her tongue into his mouth and taste him. Salvo's tongue danced with hers as his arms wrapped around her while tourists walked by and smiled at the couple, thinking they were on their honeymoon.

Salvo ended the kiss and looked into Bianca's hooded eyes, full of lust. His willpower was waning because of the alcohol. But he had to be the one in control. No way he would take her virginity in a hotel room at Caesar's. That day would come when Bianca was his lawfully wedded wife.

Bianca closed her eyes then, and she began to sway.

Luckily Salvo was holding and said, "You were lucky tonight winning all that money, but it's time I take you to your room BB."
