His fingers hook onto my wrist and he guides me forward. “No. I'll need you to hold the shower head.”

He squeals when I tickle his side and water hits the wall, spraying everywhere. Lifting myself up, I turn off the water and hang up the shower head. He glances up at me with sleepy eyes, reaching his arm and hand out to me. Lifting him to his feet, I wrap my arms around him, making up for lost time earlier. All those times I wanted to pull him in my lap at the church and reach across the lunch table for his hand. His eyes called to me, and ignoring them was the equivalent to a punch in the chest.

His lips brush over my arm and a shiver runs down my spine, reminding me we are still wet. I forget a lot whenever I'm lost in him—to eat, sleep, and apparently get dry.

Spinning around in my grasp, the front of his wet body presses tighter to mine and he buries his face into my hairy chest. “Take me to bed.”

“Every night for as long as I'm here.”

Neither of us thought we could have this everywhere. Maybe we were wrong. In time we can fill more places with us and no one has to be a witness to our love. We’ll be there; we’ll know. We have Club Starlight, my office, Angel's hotel in Mexico, the family jet, my cabin, and now his apartment. Covering his face in more kisses, my hand rubs up his body.

Grabbing two towels from the cabinet, we both dry off and brush our teeth. He flashes me a few smiles while washing his face and slipping on a pair of silk pajama pants. It's so domesticated. Instead of scaring me the way it had with every woman I attempted to date the past few years, my heart only expands and I feel whole again.

Following him to the room, the bathroom darkens behind us as I turn the lights off, and I pick up his towel to hang it on the nearby rack. Collecting his discarded clothes on the floor, I toss them in the hamper with mine, making a note to throw them in the washer first thing in the morning.

Not paying me any mind as I finish picking up his room, he climbs under the covers and turns to his side. “You coming,Padrino?”

“Si. I need to take care of a few more things first.”

“Don't take too long,” he says, disappearing fully under the blanket.

I smile and my heart warms as he reaches behind him to untuck the blankets for me. He's always waiting for me, and I never want to let him down again. I'm going to be here every time, even if it kills me. Moving or breathing wrong could end our lives but loving each other could do more than that. I'll just have to be sure I reach the dangers before they do us.

Walking into the kitchen, I fill a bottle of water and grab a handful of peppermints from the bowl on his table before heading back to the bedroom. After setting the items on the nightstand beside him, I plug in his phone and shut off the lamp. He spends a lot of his day being in charge of so much, I don't mind being the one to take care of him at the end of the night.

Crawling under the covers, the cool sheets rub against my skin as I slide closer to him. He pushes back into me and my arm wraps around his waist. “Goodnight, precious.”

He wiggles against me and I don't have to see him to know he's smiling. “Night,Padrino. See you tomorrow.”

My heart flutters and my body curves around him while I shut my eyes. The rhythm of his breathing grows steady and his soft snores drown out the silence.

Slowly, one day at a time, we will take everything we want, and I'm perfectly okay with starting here.

Morning light shines above us, and I press a kiss into Enrico's warm skin before rolling away. Climbing out of bed, I step onto the cold wood and move quietly against the floor. I quickly dress and prepare Enrico's meds, vitamins, and probiotics. Grabbing all the ingredients I need to make us breakfast smoothies, I toss it all into the blender and pull down two cups while I wait for everything to be fully mixed together.

My vibrating phone stops me from reaching for the blender again and I briefly read over the message. My heart rattles in my chest.

Zacharias:Morning,Compadre. After you drop my son off at work this morning, I need you to swing by the warehouse. There are some issues there I need you to deal with. Tyson will be guarding Enrico while you're away.

Me:Órale.

Footsteps trail behind me, followed by a soft sigh. “Is my breakfast ready?”

Dropping my phone on the counter, I turn off the spinning blender and nod. “Si. Buenos diasto you too, pequeño.”

“Before I forget to ask again, did you ever bury the hatchet the way you said you would? Or is it still in my car?”

“I did it during your nap. You were too worn out to notice me missing for two hours,” I say. “You don’t have to worry about it anymore.”

His shoulders relax and relief is evident on his face. “It was all that conversing and socializing that made me so damn tired.”

I smile softly. “I know. I’m glad you listened to your body and got the rest you needed.”

“Me too. You're coming with me to work today, right?”

Frowning, I fill both of our cups and shake my head. “Not this time. Your father needs me somewhere else this morning, but I'll come for you as soon as I'm done.”

“Of course he does.” He rolls his eyes, grabbing one of the cups from my hand. “I knew it all sounded too good to be true.”
