Telling people my age is something I avoid doing for as long as possible. My youthful looks give me away though. Not only am I young, I’m also thin and of average height. I’m not as appealing to subs when standing next to big dudes like Remy.

“You going to be okay on your own?” Zane asks, pulling me out of my stupor.

“Aren’t I always?”

“Eventually. It’s usually not until about halfway through the night when you finally stop clinging on to me.”

“You’re so full of shit,” I rasp.

He tosses his head back, laughing. Taking a bite of a carrot stick, he pats my shoulder. “I’ll see you on the other side then. Don’t stay in the kitchen for too long.”

“Yeah, yeah.” I wave him off and he hops toward the blaring music, shaking his ass.

Chuckling, I bring my cup to my lips and slowly nurse my drink. A couple of pups run in circles around me, one holding a red ball in his mouth. Dropping it by my feet, he nudges it toward me with his nose, his black ears almost touching my leg.

“Need someone to throw it for you, boy?” I ask, waiting for him to lean in for a pet before scratching him between the ears. Maybe I could want this over time. He barks, taking a step back on all fours, and shakes his tail.

Bending forward, I collect the toy between my fingers and tease him a little before finally tossing it out into the living room. Him and his friend dodge after it and I laugh, leaning against the counter. Their tails wag as they sharply turn the corner, crashing into each other.

As adorable as it is, I can’t find the inner joy I’ve seen some of my friends experience while being with their pups. The excitement and awe was obvious in their expressions. Jealousy tugs at my chest. I want it so badly but every time I think I’m within touching distance, it slips away.

Sighing in defeat, I wander into the living room. A different song plays; it’s lighter than the one before, with a slower beat. All gazes shift to the corner of the room and when I join everyone else, air catches in my lungs, causing me to nearly choke. The most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen steps out of a cage when a man calls to him.

My heart quickens in my chest as he flaps the white wings attached to a harness. They are quite large for his medium frame and dusted in glitter, but it doesn’t take away from his graceful movements. A white mask made of mostly feathers covers a majority of his face, leaving only his shiny pink lips exposed. A small beak rests where his nose is and he uses it to peck at the hand lifting in front of him.

He’s mesmerizing. Every move he makes pulls me closer. Feathers are gathered around his lower half, attached to a pair of tiny white shorts that hug his slender hips and everything else. Mostly exposed, his skin glistens under the lights and small dark pink nipples rest above a leather strap. My spine tingles when he drops to his knees, licking seed off the bigger man’s boot, and something feral and possessive rises inside me.

Sexual attraction to a stranger isn’t something I’ve experienced before. It might not necessarily be in response to his looks since I have no idea what he looks like under the mask and I’m not entirely sure it’s arousal I feel. I’m enamored by the way he presents himself, along with the whole entire dynamic unfolding in front of me. I have the sudden urge to shove everyone out of the way and stand between the beautiful dove and the man feeding him so I can be the one he’s kneeling for instead.

A cold hand rests on my shoulder and my attention is dragged away when someone’s nails dig into my skin. “The fuck,” I say, turning around.

“Dude. I was calling you and you weren’t answering me. What are you even looking at?” Zane stares around me, his eyebrows bunching together.

“I was just—” My words are caught in my throat when my gaze shifts back toward the corner of the room and my dove is no longer there. He isn’t mine.It doesn’t mean he won’t be, though.

Who was that asshole he was with anyway? His handler or Master? Were they only playing for the night or did they arrive here together. I have so many questions for a man who is a complete stranger.

“Uh… What just happened to you? Did you fall asleep on me? If I knew you were that tired, I wouldn’t have made you that drink.” He gestures to my half full cup.

“I was watching a scene, but I guess it’s over now and you made me miss it.”

“What scene?”

“Doesn’t matter.” I sigh in frustration. “I thought you were going off to have your own fun?”

He shrugs. “I was until I realized people here either already have someone to play with, don’t want to play at all, or they’re looking for pups and kittens.”

“Have you ever met any birds in the scene before?” I ask, changing the subject.

“Not personally. I think I saw one here though. They aren’t super common but I have heard of a few before. Read about a penguin and eagle in some blog posts. Why?”

“No reason,” I say, searching around us. “I’m going to look for the bathroom.”

“It’s down that hall.” He points in the direction behind us. “First door on the left. I’m going back for more food, so meet me in the kitchen when you’re done. Unless you’re lying about going to the restroom and are secretly looking for someone. A bird perhaps?”

I roll my eyes, blowing out air between my teeth. “Stop worrying about what I’m doing and go eat some damn lettuce.”

His laughter mixes in with the music, fading behind me the further I head in the opposite direction. Loud moans have me pausing in front of the bathroom door, preventing me from twisting the knob all the way. Glancing around me, I notice a door cracked open. Ignoring the moving figures through the open space, I enter the bathroom.
