His head falls back against the seat and his laughter fills the car as I turn onto the street the lingerie shop is at. His brows furrow when we pull up in front of the giant pink sign. “This is where we’re going?”

“Si.Do you know it?” I play dumb.

“I—kind of. I’ve visited the website a few times.”

“Only a few times?” I shut off the car.

He stares around him and back at me. “Finn. Why are we here?”

“Because this place has something you need.”

The corner of his lips twitch. “What?”

“Underwear.” I open the door and step out of the car before he can ask any more questions. He’s already standing outside by the time I circle around the front. “You didn’t let me open the door for you.”

“You aren’t telling me something.”

“Such as?” My voice goes higher than I intend it to.

“Why you chose this place out of all the lingerie shops out there.”

Sighing, I grab his hands. “Fine. I saw you looking at their website one time when we went to grab coffee together.”

“And?” He squeezes my fingers.

I suck through my teeth. “When you went to the bathroom, I may or may not have looked in your shopping cart.”

His jaw tightens and he tugs his hand away, crossing his arms. “I thought we talked about your stalker tendencies.”

“You say stalker and I say curiosity.”

“Just because you give it another name doesn’t make it okay.”

“I was only trying to get to know all the things you liked.”

“Sounds like something a serial killer says in order to lure their victims.”

I huff out a breath. “I promise I wasn’t trying to invade your privacy and sneak behind your back. I only wanted to surprise you. It’s not like I stand outside your window and watch you undress at night.”

“That’s very specific. Now I wonder.” He narrows his eyes, his lips tilting.

“I’m sorry, okay? I’ll ask you next time. I’ve never claimed to be perfect.”

“I know,” he says. “That’s one of my favorite things about you. You never try to be who people expect you to be and you don’t fit into any one specific box.”

“Was I just insulted?” I take a step back, pursing my lips.

He rolls his eyes and grabs my arm. Tugging me closer, he peers into my eyes. “Of course not. It’s the best compliment.” His lips meet mine, our tongues briefly touching.

“Mmm.” He pulls away. “You suggesting we do this outside the house was a good idea after all.”

“So you aren’t mad at me?”

“No. Just be honest with me from now on.”

“And don’t look into your shopping carts on your phone and don’t think about how I wish you would let me look through your window when you’re changing.”

He laughs and his warm breath heats my lips.
