“Happy birthday, baby.” I set down a white box on the table and Theo perks up in his seat, perching himself on the edge.

“Is that for me?”

“Yup. Go ahead and open it.” I nudge it closer with the tips of my fingers.

Rolling his bottom lip between his teeth, he slowly reaches for the box and strokes the velvet before pulling back the lid. His brown eyes round and he presses his hand to his chest. “It's a…”

“A bracelet with my name engraved in the front. I call you mine all the time but I want to make it more permanent. I have friends who collar their pups and kittens, and today I hope to be tagging my beautiful bird. I love you, Theo, and I want you to feel it every time you look down at your wrist.”

His breath catches in his throat and he touches the silver band. Slowly lifting the jewelry in the air, he smiles at the way it sparkles in the light and my lips stretch at how he brightens the whole room with his glow. “It's beautiful.”

“Very fitting for the person who will be wearing it. What do you say, love bird? Will you be mine forever?”

“Yes.” His eyes fill with a mixture of emotion and excitement. “Will you put it on me?”

“I wouldn't want it any other way.”

With sparkling eyes, he slides the bracelet across the table and he flips his wrist around, laying his arm flat. “Does it have a tracker attached like real bird tags?”

“No, but it can. I prefered to wait until you ask for it first. Are you wanting me to have the ability to know everywhere you are at all times, baby?”

He nods gently, flexing out his hand to remind me of what I'm supposed to be doing. “As much as possible.”

Of course he does. Grinning, I fasten the bracelet around his wrist and bring his hand to my mouth to kiss the inside of his palm. “The perfect fit for my perfect bird.”

His smile is so bright it warms my heart. “Thank you, Sir.”

“You're very welcome, baby.” I rest our hands on the table and my fingers stay wrapped around his. His eyes beam at me and I badly want to shove the table out of the way so that nothing is resting between us. “You're so fucking pretty, my pretty bird.”

He blushes and wiggles in his seat. “Are you taking me out today?”

I shake my head, holding him in place with my stare. “I was actually thinking we could have a birdnic here instead.”

He glances behind him and then back at me. “Okay. Should I be in bird space for it?”

“Do you want to be?” I lift a brow, looking deeper into his eyes wondering if I can spot the answer before he can give it to me himself.

He nibbles on his bottom lip, and pulls his hand away from mine. “For the first half.”

“Then that's how you'll start off. It's your day so you should have some say in how it goes too.”

“Will you decide everything else for me once outside?” His voice grows softer and he shrinks a little in his chair as if worried he's asking for too much. He never is.

“Gladly. You know I'm always happy to help free you from everything else for a little while and if you’d rather be my beautiful bird for the whole day and no one else then I'll be here to take care of all your needs.”

The bracelet twists between his fingers, his skin growing red from the metal repeatedly rubbing his wrist.” I changed my mind. Once you help me get into my gear, I don't want to be Theo again until tomorrow.”

Standing up from the table, I walk behind him and rub his shoulders. “Go get on the bed for me, baby,” I whisper low in his ear.

He trembles, digging his nails into the wooden table. “Yes, Sir.”

The bottom of the chair scrapes against the wooden floor as I scoot it back to allow him room to get up. Using my hand as leverage, he stands up and he quickly breaks away from me to rush off to our room.

Laughing, I slowly walk behind him and shout, “Walk, baby. I don't want you to trip and fall.”
