She has another mate? How does a titan share his soul pair?

The titan sat away from the humans, his large purple eyes wide open but unseeing. He was beautiful—huge and golden-skinned with long white hair. The same color as Riseir’s hair. It was the coloring of the old royal family.

I understood then. They wanted a hero. A king. Someone who could make changes for the whole population with the direction of the gods. Someone the people would look up to. Someone they could also blame if things went wrong instead of pointing the finger directly at the gods, thereby losing worshipers.

A titan with royal blood and a soul pair. He would be a king.

But a king is not a savior. Mother had told me that.

Why are they all so filthy? Surely humans don’t live in such squalor.

Curious now, I looked around the room and moved my view by pressing my finger to the cold glass and swiping to see what surrounded them.

I gritted my teeth, and my gums burned with the need to sink my fangs into someone.

They are caged.

They were in darkness except for the light from the purple scars of the titan and a lantern in the far corner.

Why are they trapped? Who has them?

I stared at how the humans were cuddled. Are they cold?

Why do I care?

I didn’t know, but something urged me to help them.

But I was not a reckless male. I didn’t know anything about them. Maybe they were dangerous. Maybe they had committed a crime. Maybe they deserved the treatment. Maybe they were already out of control.

It intrigued me, however. I wanted to know more.

Dream walking would let me get the information I needed from them without taking them from their cage. But looking so akari, with my dark features and red eyes, and turning up in a dream would probably frighten the titan into silence. Or worse, he could run into the mists and be lost to an endless sleep. I couldn’t risk that.

I would visit her and hope she gave me the answers I needed instead.

CHAPTER6

CLAWDIA

Where am I?

I stared at a beautiful landscape of green hills and mountains covered in a forest of trees. With my brow furrowed and my mouth agape, I spun around, taking in my surroundings. Behind me, a large, beautiful building shone brightly in the sun. I didn't recognize it, but I felt safe at the sight of it, which I thought was strange.

The whole experience was odd. Wind blew through my hair, and the sun warmed my face. It felt real. But it couldn't be. Although I couldn’t remember why.

I walked hesitantly around a large orchard and touched golden apples hanging from the trees. The hard fruit weighed heavily in my hands, and its gossamer skin was soft against my fingertips as though I was truly holding it.

But golden apples don’t exist. I must be dreaming.

Despite the confusion, I tilted my head back to the sun and drank it in, listening to the sounds of birdsong and the rustle of small creatures in the forest nearby.

“Human.”

I spun at the sound of a voice behind me, only to find one of the most handsome men I had ever laid eyes on. Dark skin and hair, red eyes, roman nose, and full lips surrounded by a stubbly beard. I almost swooned on sight, but he called me human.

Was I human? Was a familiar human? A familiar with half a titan soul, human?

The semantics were something to think about later since the word “human” from an unknown man with red eyes could be a warning, or a threat, or an announcement. Whatever it was, it didn’t feel friendly.
