I pulled back, confused. “What?”

“Never mind. Get me naked.”

ChapterTwenty-Three

ADDISON

Icouldn’t remember my doubts once Leo’s mouth was on mine. Hell, I could hardly remember my name.

“Wait,” Leo muttered, withdrawing and leaving me panting against the wall.

“Wait?”

He let out a long breath. “I got carried away. We need to talk.”

“Said no guy ever.”

His lips tipped up in a smile. Boy, I could get used to putting one on his face.

“There is nothing more I want than not talking, but there’s an important decision to be made, and with sex on the table, I don’t think either of us is thinking straight.”

Talking and making a decision about whether or not to make a baby was the responsible thing to do. I’d voiced my concern about compatibility, and he was addressing it like a calm, rational adult. But right now I wanted to take a different route. The type which had him fucking me against this wall.

“Stop looking at me like that,” he warned.

“Like you’re a plate of chicken nachos with guacamole and sour cream? That kind of look?”

His expression reminded me of when we’d met on the plane, and he’d thought I was crazy. “A plate of nachos is your favorite meal?”

“Not just any plate. The perfect combination of cheese, chicken, jalapenos, black olives, sour cream, and guacamole—oh, and pico de gallo, of course.”

“Sounds like something I’d like to try someday.”

This. This was what I’d meant by compatibility. Knowing each other’s favorite foods and looking forward to trying them together.

“Okay,” I said. “You’re right. We should talk.”

I followed him as he led the way into his kitchen, noting the granite countertops, high-end appliances, and gleaming hardwood floors. Could I see myself living here? Better question—could I see myself living here with Leo?

We remained quiet as Leo pulled down two glasses and poured us both some water.

Finally I blurted out one of my many burning questions. “How do you think you’d do with sharing a house?”

He frowned, the expression becoming more attractive the more time I spent around him. Geesh, the guy gave me a few orgasms, and now his frowns were sexy?

“Do you want to redecorate? Or make sure I’m willing to have it look like it threw up Christmas during the holidays? Is that what you mean?”

Not even close. “I’m talking about your personal space, Leo. You live alone, and no offense, but you aren’t exactly a people person. And I’m not exactly a wallflower. How will we be compatible living together, let alone parenting together?”

“You’re right. I’m not a people person. But once I allow someone in, I’m better about it. Fuck, I don’t know.”

He raked a hand through his hair. The hair I’d grabbed on to when he’d gone down on me. The hair I’d then had to pull. Hard. Dammit. I was becoming distracted again.

“I have to admit it’s tempting to take the plunge and not ask questions,” I said. “You’re giving me what I want, more than anything, but—”

“But you’d rather do it alone?”

Good question. “If it means my kids can grow up without their parents fighting or tension in the house, then yes.”
