“I think I’d better concentrate on one guy at a time.”

She sighed. “Fine, but he’s cute, so let me know if you change your mind.”

Later that morning, I walked into the office, a secret smile on my lips in thinking about Leo. I was in the middle of making the coffee when the subject of my thoughts walked in. He was wearing his hair tied back, a fitted black T-shirt, and black utility pants.

By the time my hungry perusal made its way up to his face, he was arching a brow.

“Keep looking at me like that, kitten, and I’ll drag you into my office.”

“Promise?” My voice was breathy, my pulse already racing at the thought.

He cursed softly. “Tempting, but I have to head downtown for an install.”

“Why did you come into the office first?”

He moved closer. “To see you. Make sure you’re not having second thoughts?”

“I’m not. You?”

His expression relaxed in relief. “Not one. Come over for dinner tonight? Spend the night so I can wake you up tomorrow morning with my tongue between your legs?”

Gulp. “Uh-huh.” When he smiled softly, I swear I could feel the swoony sigh all the way to my toes.

Perhaps the problem wasn’t in giving up love by entering this relationship. It was how to keep myself from falling for the gentle giant.

He quickly glanced around as if he’d forgotten himself for a moment and only then become aware of other people—and cameras.

The remainder of the day went by quickly. The anticipation of going to Leo’s place put a pep in my step. After leaving the office, I quickly dropped by my place first to grab a change of clothes, my toiletry bag, and makeup.

Craig was waiting outside of the door when I arrived.

“Hi, Craig, is Malorie not home yet?” I was confused as to why he was outside our apartment.

He smiled. “Hi, Addy. I actually came by early in hopes of talking to you. Would’ve done it in the office, but I was on-site all day.”

He followed me into the apartment after I unlocked it. “Sure. What’s up?”

He shifted his feet, looking nervous. “I want to do something romantic for Mal. Show her how much she means to me. I was hoping you could give me some ideas.”

Oh, boy. He was so sweet. I only hoped he wasn’t so sweet that she dumped him because of the lack of challenge. “Um, she loves chocolate and champagne. I bet if you do one of those fancy dessert places as a date, she’d love it.”

He beamed upon receiving this information. “Thanks, Addy, you’re the best.”

I only hoped my cousin would appreciate his romantic efforts.

ChapterTwenty-Six

LEO

She was late. Not as if I’d given her a time, but I knew she’d left the office at five o’clock, and here it was an hour later, and she’d yet to show. It took everything in me not to call her. But I didn’t want to come across as controlling. Going forward, I would make sure to set a specific time so I wasn’t left pacing my house.

The possibility she might already be pregnant with my child made me feel fiercely protective. Glancing at my buzzing phone, I sighed when I saw it was Craig instead of Addison calling.

“Leo here.”

“Hey, I have a favor to ask.”

“What is it?”
