Mel cradled her face between his hands and kissed her in answer. Careful not to fall again, they both climbed to the center of the bed. His hands moved down along her sides, his fingers feather-light as he followed the sweatshirt hem, sliding his hands underneath. He kissed along her jaw to her ear as he tugged the sweatshirt up, biting at her ear lobe before pulling her top completely off. She arched up to help him peel the yoga pants down her hips and legs, her feet caught in tight spandex before he yanked them off and dropped them next to the bed.

He paused to absorb every detail, the way the moonlight highlighted her curves, the whispers escaping her lips, and the heat radiating off her body. It’d felt so long since he last appreciated heat.

She reached up, pushing the jacket off of his shoulders, and tossing it to the floor behind him. Her hands fumbled at the buttons of his shirt, the moonlight adding a glow to his pale skin as she revealed it piece by piece. She reached for his belt and pants, stopping short when she noticed the dark red spot on his lower stomach. The first bullet hadn’t caused much damage except for the small entry wound and it had stopped bleeding the night he died. Her fingers hesitated over the wound.

“It doesn’t hurt anymore,” he assured her. “It doesn’t bleed either.”

“I was more concerned about hurting you.”

“No worry there, nothing you're doing is causing pain. I promise.” He once again crushed his lips against hers, pressing her head back into the comforter. Tongues twirled around one another. He was determined to taste every inch of her while he could.

His mouth found her shoulder and light licks followed her clavicle to the center of her chest. Her hand ran over his head, through his black hair as he moved over the swell of her breast. She bit her bottom lip as he focused his attention on one, while his hand shifted to the other. A harsh gasp resembling his name escaped her throat. His other hand slid down her hips to her panties, diving underneath the lacey material.

He smiled against her flesh as she moaned, nipping at the goosebumps rising from his attention. His fingers moved slowly against her. She lifted her hips, following his lead. Her hand reached down to grasp his wrist, guiding him to the level of pressure she needed. Their eyes connected, blue to hazel-gold, as a rhythm slowly built.

Pleading whimpers became frantic as his pace increased. Her hips bucked up to meet his hand, racing along the frantic pace with him. She clasped his wrist in one hand, the other pulling at the blankets underneath her; yanking at them as if they would give her the release she craved. She was close, her body stretched tight in his grasp, ready to snap.

“Mel,please…”

As he fixed his gaze on hers, he bit down over her sensitive peak just enough to open the floodgates.

She threw back her head, mouth open wide in a silent cry. Her muscles trembled and surged around his fingers. Mel studied her face as pleasure crashed over her in intense waves, his name a repeated prayer on her lips.

Trailing kisses from her chest, gently over her wounded neck, his lips landed on hers as she tried to catch her breath around his mouth. Breathlessly she chuckled, drinking in his smug grin. She ran her hands over his shoulders, then pushed at him.

“You’re still overdressed.” She tugged at his pants.

He peeled them off, his shoes falling off the bed with them. He stripped her of her underwear as his mouth continued to explore her body. From hip to stomach, breast and neck, until he was eye to eye with her. His lips peppered the crown of her head with kisses, the last two placed over her eyes.

“You’re beautiful and worth more than everything I left behind,” he confessed.

“You’re more than I ever thought I’d find."

He wove his fingers with hers in one hand, supporting himself on the other as he arched forward. Her free hand reached up, pulling him to her by his shoulder, her hips lifting to join his.

Their foreheads touched and their eyes connected. She saw him with more clarity than she had any other being, living or not.

Their bodies moved together, one leading the other down a spiral of pleasure; losing sight of everything except each other. Their hands laced as lips sought one another out in the moonlight. His groans melded with hers as their crescendo fast approached. Anastacia curled her legs around his waist as he led their linked hands over her head, stretching her out under him.

“Mel...” The force of his thrust drove a moan from her. “I’m close.”

“I’m here,” he whispered and let go of her hands, freeing them to coil around his back. He drew his hands down her smooth skin, one pushing beneath her to cradle her shoulder as the fingertips of his other hand dug into her hip, his end nearing hers. “I'm here and I'm yours.”

Her back arched and she begged him, “Don't hold back.”

Already seated deep within, his hips bucked against hers, their bodies flush with one another in a delirious need. His face buried in her neck, his lips repeating he was hers in time with his thrusts. She clutched at him, fingers digging into his back. Anastacia cried his name into the room as her body quivered with the exquisite electricity sparking throughout it. Mel tumbled after her into bliss, his exhausted form falling limp over hers.

She panted, the strain on her vocal cords making her wheeze out harsh breaths. He pushed some of her dark brown hair from her face, giving her time to catch her breath. “I’m sorry if I—”

“No apologies,” she cut him off with a smile. “Nothing you did caused me any pain.”

He relaxed over her, smiling back before kissing her shoulder. “Okay then, that was amazing.”

“Unbelievable.” She ran her hand through his hair, something she was becoming obsessed with doing, watching him through sleepy eyes.

Turning to his side, he pulled the blanket at the foot of the bed up, wrapping her in it and scooping the precious bundle into his arms. He pressed his lips to the crown of her head as he watched the streetlight filter through the curtains from the window.

“How long do you think we’ll be able to stay in the moment?” Her arms curled around him.
