“Start over,” I say quietly.

He nods. “Thanks to your field trip this morning, I have every resource at my disposal again. I can get a new name, new documents, go anywhere in the world I choose.”

He pauses and meets my eyes. Glittering. Full of promise.

“And you could come with me.”

I inhale in a rush. I’ve been wondering about it, if his vision of the future included me in it, and here it is.

The offer of a lifetime.

My thoughts race, and I buy time, slowly eating some of my schnitzel.

“If we disappeared together, where would you want to go?” I ask finally.

“What do you want to see?” he shoots back immediately. “Mountains? Beaches? I know a little island in the Caribbean we could go.”

I sigh, thinking of tropical beaches and shady palms. “That sounds like heaven.”

“I could buy a yacht,” he adds, smiling. “And we could sail around the islands, drinking fresh coconut juice, and making love all day.”

I laugh. “Are we planning a getaway or a porn movie?” I tease.

“Why not both?” Sebastian laughs. “But I mean it. We could go anywhere. Do anything. There’s nothing stopping us. All you have to do is say the word.”

“Disneyland?” I tease.

He smiles. “Just call me Mickey.”

I laugh. We keep talking like that as we eat, spinning a one fantasy after another about where we could go. A resort in the mountains where we could see all the stars in the clear sky. A surf shack in Costa Rica, right on the shore.

“I mean it,” he says, looking across the table at me. “As long as we’re together, that’s all that matters to me.”

I pause, wanting to believe him. But even after everything that’s happened, I can’t be sure.

“You would trust me?” I ask softly. “After what I did to you?”

Sebastian holds my gaze. “Yes.”

My disbelief must be clear, because he gives a regretful smile. “I’m not exactly innocent here, am I? We’ve both sinned against each other,” he says. “We’ve both done some unforgiveable things but… It’s different now. There’s no lies between us anymore. We can put the past behind us now. We have a chance for a blank slate. If you want it.”

And I do.

The already know the answer, I feel it pounding with every heartbeat. I belong with him. Wherever—and whoever that might be.

“Yes,” I whisper. “I want it. A fresh start for us.”

Sebastian kisses me again, but this time, there’s no holding back, despite the people around to see us. He pulls me flush against him in the booth, his body taut against me and his tongue plunging deep between my lips like he’s claiming me as his own. My blood ignites, and my body aches, and soon I’m gasping, panting for more.

“Seb…” I whisper hoarsely, pressing closer.

“Yes, Sparrow…” he answers, a teasing smile on his lips.

He has one hand draped around my shoulder, and his fingertips are caressing the back of my neck. Soft, so soft it makes me shiver with desire, my body coming alive for him.

Only him.

I wet my lips, cheeks already flushed and hot. The things he’s already taught me… The ways this man has made me moan. I’m restless from the thought of it. His hands, his words, the way he can command and captivate me, like I belong to him.
