“You messed with that poor woman’s emotions. Telling her lies about me. I tried to order a beer. She looked ready to kill me. And forget about when I ordered a burger.”

April laughed even harder.

She put her drink down and grabbed for her stomach.

She bent forward, giggling.

“I’m glad you think it’s funny,” I said. “Well played, April. Well played. But, hey, at least I got something out of it.”

“Oh yeah?” April asked, wiping her eyes. “What?”

“A quickie in the bathroom.”

April gasped.

All the laughs and giggles were gone.

“What?” she asked.

“Yeah,” I said. “I asked her if she was vegan, could she take a hunk of meat like mine?”

“You did not…”

“And she told me she could take it and then some. So I told her to prove it. Next thing I know, we’re in the bathroom and she got her dress up to her ass, on the bathroom counter, legs spread. So…”

“What?”

“What do you mean, what? What do you think I did?”

April grabbed her beer bottle off the counter.

She scoffed and pushed me out of her way.

She pouted and stomped her way to the balcony.

I grinned and followed her.

“Are you mad about that?” I asked her.

“What? No. I don’t care what you do. Whatever.”

“I thought that was the point of the date? I mean, I get that you set me up on the worst date ever. That was funny. But I needed to get laid. Right?”

“Seb, I don’t care,” she said. “Okay? Good for you. Glad it all worked out.”

April put her back to me and leaned against the railing.

Now it was my turn to laugh.

As soon as she looked back, she knew I had been lying to her.

“You asshole,” she whispered.

“Seems like someone was a little bit jealous there,” I said.

“No. Not even close. I thought my plan blew up in my face.”

“Yeah, sure,” I said. I walked toward her and bumped into her. “Hey, guess what?”
