I cradled her in my right arm and she seemed comfortable.
Henry looked at the baby and smiled.
Joe walked over, thirty feet tall.
He reached and touched the baby’s nose.
He clicked his tongue and the baby jumped.
“Sorry, kid,” Joe’s deep voice said.
Juniper Evelyn stared in disbelief.
“I know,” I said. “He’s a monster. But he’s sometimes nice.”
“She doesn’t need nice,” Joe said. “She needs someone to snap some necks when she gets older. One wrong look from a boy and I’ll handle things.”
Rome let out a small whistle and nodded at me.
I turned and saw the door open again.
This time it was April there.
“And the sparks fly,” I heard Henry whisper to Rome.
“Oh, look at that little one,” April said.
“April,” I said. “Hey.”
“Bad time?” April asked.
“Of course not,” I said.

“Uncle Sebastian is giving us a break,” Hazel said.
“Uncle Seb,” April said with a smirk.
“Seb, huh?” Joe asked.
April looked up at him. “You guys can call him whatever you want. He’s always Seb to me. OrSebby.”
Jago appeared again, this time fully dressed. “Sebby?”
I cringed and curled my lip at April.
“Let me ask you something,” Jago said with his sights set on April. “Do you call himSebbywhen you’re in bed together?”
April gasped.
“You’re a piece of something,” I said to Jago.
