“You know what that means,” he said.
“No, I don’t.”
“It means I just… I felt things too, April. That’s all. I just…”
I laughed. “Stop it. Don’t do this again, Seb. Last time you saw me I was ugly.”
“You were never ugly, April.”
“Seb. It was rough.”
He shook his head. “You were a pain in the ass. But a ball of fire. You had this look… I just knew.”
“You didn’t know a thing,” I said. I climbed up onto the passenger seat. “You’re just trying to convince yourself. You’re trying to match me. I think it’s sweet. But you can admit it, Seb. You were physically attracted to me this time. That’s what happened first.”
“Fine. You were a dork. An annoying pain in the ass. And now? You’re sexy. You’re beautiful.”
“But still a dork and pain in the ass?”
“Always, April,” Seb said, looking at me.
I kissed him.
While he was driving.
A stupid move.
But that’s what Seb did to me.
He made me do stupid things.
Seb carriedmy bags to my bedroom.
I reminded myself to thank Steph, Poppy, and Katie for taking care of the place for me.
It was clean and smelled good.
A little bit smaller than Seb’s apartment.
No balcony though.
And definitely no views of the beach.
A place to call home.
Even though I already had that with Seb.
He put my bags on the floor and walked to my dresser and looked at the mirror.
He plucked a picture off and smiled.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Being a pervert,” he said.
He showed me the picture.
One of myself, Steph, Poppy, and Katie at the beach from last summer.
