Manly feet.

“Hockey,” I said. “You made it. Obviously. I haven’t had the chance to say congrats to you for everything you’ve done.”

“I knew I was going pro from the day I turned eighteen,” he said. “You knew it too.”

“Okay. I’m just saying congrats. But I do have a question.”

I smirked.

“Great. Can’t wait to hear it.”

“Why aren’t you on Andy’s team?”

“Wait a second. Andy doesn’t have a team. He’s on a team.”

“Oh, is someone jealous?” I asked.

“Of Andy? Nah. I never wanted to be like Andy. I was always myself. You know that.”

“So you don’t want to be on the same team as Andy?” I asked.

“Could you imagine him and I together? We’d end up fighting each other… like we always do. Except on the same team it would be crazy. Plus, why bother being on that team? I’ve got my own team.”

“Oh, so you have a team?” I asked.

“Funny.” He leaned toward me. “Put it this way,Auggie.I might be on a shitty team but I’m the highest paid player. Fucking rich.”

He winked at me.

Then he smirked.

Without thinking, I grabbed his face with my right hand.

I pushed my hand against his face, groaning as I did so.

Making a grossed out sound.

“Still the same cockySebby,” I said.

He grabbed my wrist and moved my hand away from his face.

He then tugged me closer to him.

Way too close to him.

“Cocky? Yes. Rich? Yes? Got a problem with that?”

“No,” I said.

I twisted my wrist and pulled away from him.

At the same time we both took a drink from our beer bottles.

I was happy to see Seb made it out of his rough past.

No parents. Crappy home life with some random family member.

Never knowing where his next meal was coming from. Never knowing if the house he lived in had electricity or not.
