The two of us thinking about that kiss.

I nodded for a second, my pre-caffeinated brain coming up with an idea.

Kiss him! Make it even!

I didn’t hesitate at all.

I jumped to my toes and grabbed Seb’s shirt.

I pulled at him and made my move.

My lips crashed to his.

Pressing hard. Pressing tight.

Complete with morning breath from me and coffee breath from him.

The kiss lasted maybe two seconds.

I dropped back down to my feet and gave a confident nod.

“There. We’re even now. Two silly kisses. One from you. One from me. Can we go back to normal now?”

Seb just stared at me.

I walked around him. “I’m going to get dressed and get to work. Busy day today. It’ll be a long day too. Um, not sure what time I’ll be home. I’ll probably just stay and keep going until I figure out how to make this all work.”

April, you’re rambling.

I knew I was rambling.

I couldn’t help it.

I grabbed my work bag and one of the health bars fell out.

“Strawberry,” I said as I picked it up. “Has to taste good, right?”

Seb continued to stare at me.

One eyebrow lifted.

Looking so sleepy and sexy.

He licked his lips.

I had no idea what that was supposed to mean.

“If we get one or two flavors that are good, I can make this work,” I said. “I’m good at my job. You know? I’m really good at my job. I’m like you, Seb. Scoring goals. Except it’s marketing and market share.”

I let out a nervous laugh.

Seb touched his chin. “Did you just kiss me, April?”

“You kissed me last night,” I said. “Look, I’m going to get something to eat and then I’ll be out of the way. I’m going to work until this works. That’s my plan.”

I let out another nervous laugh.

Then I tore open the wrapper on the strawberry health bar.
