“Wow,” Kailey repeated. “I think I’ve heard enough here. I’m leaving.”

“Kailey, give me a second,” I said.

She held a hand up. “No thanks. I’ll go salvage my night elsewhere.”

Kailey hurried out of my apartment.

I tightened my lips for a second.

April stood in a towel.

Her shoulders wet, bare.

Her hair soaked.

I smelled her soap lingering in the air.

My nostrils flared.

“Seb, I had no idea,” she said. “If you would have texted me, I would have figured something else out. I came home and you weren’t here. I decided to just relax a little. I got a drink and then I took a long, hot shower. I didn’t mean to leave my bra hanging on the back of the couch. I thought I had the place to myself.”

“You told me you were working late, April,” I said.

“Obviously… I’m home…”

She shrugged her shoulders.

“I thought you were working late!” I growled.

I walked by April, more irritated with her than I ever had been in my entire life.

And it didn’t help matters that she smelled so fucking good.

Chapter Sixteen

APRIL

Seb went outsideto the balcony.

I swallowed hard.

I looked at my bra.

A little too small for me…

I curled my lip.

That woman was a bitch.

I came home after a horrible day with Sabrina and thought I had the place to myself.

Today Sabrina didn’t want to talk about her health bars. In her mind, they were ready to go.

Today, Sabrina wanted to talk about toilets.

She had theories on the shape, design and purpose of toilets.

Listening to her talk gave me a headache.
