“Uh, well, I made sure Lyla got home safe. I never saw her with anyone else.”

“Well, she slept with him tonight, under my roof!”

“Who is he?” I ask, wondering why he hates this go so badly.

“Fulton is my former son-in-law and a goddamn Savage King now!”

“Oh.” It makes sense that RJ’s brother would also be in the club. “Wait. Laurel’s ex-husband hooked up with Lyla tonight?”

“Yes!”

“Jesus. I’m sorry, Isaac. I had no idea. If I had…”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Save your apology. If you had won Lyla over, she wouldn’t have ended up with that bastard!”

Now is probably not the best time to tell him I’ve never been into women and that not even his beautiful, red-haired daughter could tempt me.

“He’s not going to get away with this shit!”

“Okay. What do you need me to do?” I ask because I want to make this right for my president since he blames me.

“I don’t know yet,” he says as he sinks down onto my sofa, running his fingers through his graying hair.

For years, I’ve had a crush on my president. A stupid one since he’s straight and would never touch me like that. That’s one good thing to come from tonight – now I’ve got a guy my own age to fantasize about instead of the man old enough to be my father.

And now I’m really hoping the payback he decides on doesn’t spill over onto, say, any innocent bystanders like the man’s brother.

Even though he’ll probably bite my head off for saying it, I tell him, “We don’t really want to start a war with the Savage Kings, do we?”

Isaac swears as he gets to his feet, fire still blazing in his emerald eyes. “I don’t want war; I want the Kings destroyed. Disbanded. They don’t fucking belong here!”

“So, you want to try and scare them off?”

“I want to hurt them! Make them pay. And make them fold.”

“I’m not sure if we can do all three tonight,” I tell him honestly.

“Then tonight, we just hurt them. Or at least their precious bikes.”

Damaging bikes? I can get behind that. And maybe I’ll even have a chance to see Ruger again.

“I know someone with a big monster truck,” I offer.

RJ

I get dropped off at the bar just in time to play poker with Remy, Colt, and Hugo. I never win against them, but it’s still fun to play, even if I always lose money.

The simple trash talking while drinking a few beers is a relief. Remy, who always knows when something is up with me, thankfully doesn’t pick up on my internal freak-out.

Colt is dealing the last hand for the night when Jordan and Barrett walk in.

“Guess who got lucky tonight?” the kid says while pointing his finger at Bear.

“No shit?” I say with a grin when he sits down at the table with us.

He picks up my bottle of beer to finish it off, and I can’t help but ask if the girl is who I think it is. “You fucked your ex’s sister?”
