There’s no way in hell I’m ready to come out to my brothers since I don’t even know if this thing with Thane will become more than one hot kiss.

It’s not like I’ve suddenly been checking out guys. That’s what makes this even more confusing.

What is it about Thane that’s flipped a switch in my head? And my dick?

I push down the panic that tries to rise up into my chest every time I think about him in the hospital and how he could’ve died. How he nearly disappeared from the world, from my life, before I even got to know him.

The next day, I’m still constantly flip-flopping on going to see Thane while replacing blown fuses in a Subaru when my cell phone rings.

I’ve got about a dozen other jobs to do before I leave the shop today, so I almost ignore it.

Instead, I toss my wrench down to unzip my coveralls and pull my phone out of my jeans. When I see Barrett’s name on the screen, I answer with the truth.

“Kind of busy, bro.”

“I’ll make it quick. I just need to ask you for a favor.”

“Okay, what?” He wants a favor? From me? The dumb mechanic? He must not be able to crank his motorcycle again.

“Thane’s about to be released from the hospital.”

Holy shit. That’s a good thing, but damn, it seems too fast at the same time. When I remember my brother is silently waiting on the call for me to say something, I try to sound unconcerned when I reply. “And?”

“And Lyla wants him to come and stay with us.”

Jesus fuck! “Us? At our house?” I ask, needing confirmation.

“Yeah.”

Goddammit. I want Thane living under the same roof as me, but at the same time, it’s going to be impossible to hide how I feel about him from my brother. And impossible to resist Thane when he’s so close… That’s why I decide to take my frustration out on him. “What the fuck, Bear?”

“It’s just until he recovers. Lyla’s worried about him, and he did nearly die to save her life.”

“I don’t know…” I don’t know if I can survive this, living with Thane without anyone finding out I’m attracted to him.

“Please?” Bear begs. “I want Lyla to stay with us, and if Thane can’t, then she’s gone too.”

My desire to see Thane alive and well every day outweighs my fear of the unknown. Besides, the man was just shot. It’s not like he’ll be jumping into my bed or anything.

I take a deep breath and let it out. “Fine. Whatever.”

“You won’t have to see him or deal with him, I promise. Just don’t start any shit, and don’t tell anyone they’re both staying with us.”

“Not even Remy? Colt? Do they know?”

“Not yet. I’ll tell them eventually.”

“Eventually, as in when they figure it out on their own?”

“Something like that.”

“Whatever, bro. I hope you know what you’re doing.”

“I hope so too,” he agrees before ending the call.
