“Well,you were so sure that we wouldn’t work out and you couldn’t love me the way I deserved. But you came all the way to New York for me and now, here we are.”
I dropthe plate on the bedside table and pull her further into my arms, planting a kiss atop her head. “I realized that the fear was only in my head and I was letting it ruin a good thing. Plus, I thought about myself for once and discarded all the other reasons why others might frown on the idea of us being together.”
“I did the same thing,”she exclaims, sounding pretty proud of herself.
Chuckling,I kiss her neck. “Is that so?” I ask and she nods fervently. “I also had someone from my past visit me.”
Charlotte shifts in my arms,craning her neck to look at me. “Really? Who?”
“Ava’s mother.”
Charlotte releases a loud gasp.“No way! What did she want?”
I shrug.“It turns out the man she almost ruined my life for duped her out of everything and got together with someone else. She came begging me to help her talk to Ava so that Ava will forgive her. Apparently, she had already been to see Ava but she got thrown out.”
Charlotte's eyes grow wider.“No wonder Ava was acting a bit off. Her mother must have come around while I was on a date with Lance last night.”
My ears ringwhen Charlotte completes her sentence. “You went on a date with Lance still?”
“Uh oh,” Charlotte whispers and quickly looks away from me. She fumbles with the sheets around us. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” She mutters beneath her breath.
“No,that won’t work with me.”
“It’s notlike you didn’t know that I was going with him anyway.”
“What happened on the date, Charlotte?”
“Nothing, nothing,”she replies quickly, too quickly.
“Did he kiss you?”I almost don’t want to hear the answer to my own question.
“He tried to…”She starts. I let out a growl and she quickly continues, “But I stopped it before it could happen, I swear. I told him it wasn’t going to work out between us, because I am in love with someone else.” She turns fully to me, her hand caressing my cheek. “I am in love with you, Chris, and I want no one else.”
She kissesme and we make love again and again and again all through the night.

CHARLOTTE
Iwake up the following morning in Chris’ arms and I have never been happier. Last night was amazing, every single bit of it. I’m still reeling from how good Chris felt against me each time we made love.
It’s strange to feel this settled in a relationship, considering how restless I always felt when I was with other men. I know Chris and I have only just gotten started, but everything about this feels right.
I raise myself up on my elbow, staring down at his face. Even when asleep, he somehow manages to maintain that powerful aura, but he is so much more peaceful.
We should be on the move soon if we want to get back to the lab before the others, but I’m too interested in watching him sleep. I just don’t have it in me to wake him up, especially not after he tired himself out pleasing me all night long.
I tiptoe naked into the bathroom, smiling at how different and satisfied I look in the mirror. For a man of his age, I didn’t think Chris could go on and on like that until I was completely tired out. But I never should have doubted his prowess. The man is a god.
I start the shower and step into it, sweeping my hair back while I let the warm water ease my aches. A few minutes later, I feel strong arms come around me and I lean back against Chris’ chest with a smile.
“You didn’t wake me,” he whispers in my ear as the water rains down on us.
I turn around and wrap my arms around him, lifting my head up to stare into his eyes. “I didn’t want to disturb you, especially after all the hard work you did last night.” I grin salaciously.
“Minx,” Chris says and turns me around so quickly that I reach my hands out to grab the wall. “You should have woken me up.” He trails his fingers down my spine. “I was looking forward to giving you a proper morning greeting.” His leg comes between mine and he spreads my legs apart with it.
Before I can say a word, Chris thrusts into me and fucks me against the shower wall until I am begging for release, while droplets of water continue to rain on us.
