Mahel frowned. “Why?”
“So that she can quicken with our offspring. Her body won’t consider us suitable fathers for her offspring if we haven’t marked her. Her body won’t recognize us.”
“Wait. I have a bouncer?”
Kresso frowned. “That word doesn’t translate.”
“A thug who waits at the door and ejects the unworthy.” She chuckled.
He grinned. “An interesting image. Speaking of images. Don’t you just look the picture of depravity speared on my cock.”
She wrinkled her nose. “How could I possibly change the picture? I don’t exactly have a tablet to read.”
He lowered himself toward her and kissed her. “You know what is another delightful picture?”
She was wary. “What?”

Kresso chuckled. “You will always be cared for and safe with us, and we will keep any other mates in line. And if we must part from you for any time, the other will watch over you.”
She sighed and was gathered up against Kresso’s chest as he got to his feet, and then they rose into the air off the volcano and in a slow descent toward the house.
“I don’t think I am going to get used to this.” She hid her face against his neck.
