“No. No competition, and I’m not mating with you.” Lyra held Ka’tar’s cool gaze.

“My people mu—”

“I have already decided.” There was only one Su’ath Lyra wanted. She slid closer to Commander Ja’mor and let his scent tantalize her senses. “I will keep him.”

Mahel chuckled. “Well, I guess that’s settled.”

Ja’mour slid his muscled arm around her, leaned in close to her ear, and whispered, “You will not regret your choice, little omega.” A tremor racked her body when he nuzzled her neck.

“What of other omegas? You said others.” The ambassador’s voice pulled Lyra from her daze. “If we are to have peace, our people must be allowed to compete in future competitions.”

“I am sure our president will allow that, but we will have to hold the Omega Run in a neutral location.”

Ka’tar nodded. “That can be arranged.”

Lyra nestled closer to Ja’mor and tried desperately to keep her hormones at bay while her mates discussed future peace arrangements with the Su’ath. It took the full dinner hour and a video conference with Imko to complete the arrangements.

Finally, after dessert and a round of wine, the Su’ath were leaving. Well, except for Ja’mor. And as soon as the room was cleared of all but her mates, Lyra jumped the burly Su’ath male and overbalanced him onto the table. She whimpered, squirmed, and his hand explored before she got his suit open and got him into her. She shuddered, moaned, and circled her hips while he was deep before she lunged forward and bit him, locking him into her family and ensuring more omegas.

He was startled, and her dress was pierced when he returned the bite. Deep inside, she felt him moving without his hips participating. Oh, right. Shapeshifter. Was this what they meant? Something was shifting, and it hit that sensitive spot over and over.

She groaned and licked his wound while he got her higher and higher until she shrieked as her body held him tight, and his knot swelled.

Somehow, they had made it to the bedroom where they began cautiously until Ja’mor, Kresso, and Mahel figured out their positions, and the tail end of her heat took them over.

Lyra dozed in Kresso’s arms with her other mates around her. One appetite or another would wake her, and they would take care of her. In her other life, she would have imagined this scenario. She smiled.

She stifled a yawn and then shifted to look up at Ja’mor’s face. “What’s your planet like?”

“It is a beautiful place. Lush and green with many rivers and streams.” He shifted, rifled through his clothing that had been strewn across the bed, retrieved a thin tablet, then handed it to Lyra after touching the screen several times. “This is my home.”

Lyra gazed at the pictures in wonder. The city reminded her of images she had seen of ancient Babylon. The white-marbled homes nestled between huge gardens of flowers in many colours. Ivy dripped down balconies and pillars, and to her amazement, in the distance, an old stacked damn held sparkly blue water at bay.

“You’ll have to take me to visit.” That dam needed work, and she was just the engineer to bring it up to speed.

Ja’mor’s eyes glowed. “We will have to take a vote. By the way, why did you bite me? I am not familiar with the thought of omegas with mating teeth.”

“Well, I am the first of a new breed. Recycled omegas. Made from designs from at least four worlds with a soul from a fifth. I hope you are a fan of daughters.”

“All omegas?”

“Of course.”

He grinned. “Then, yes. Well, anyway, yes. I am excited at the thought of a family.”

Lyra glanced at his cock and smiled. “I can see that. I need to know. The Su’ath are described as shapeshifters. What does that mean?”

He grinned and transformed into a wolf-style dog, as big as the man, with three eyes.

Lyra laughed and buried her face in his fur. She couldn’t tell them, but she had a military man, free healthcare, and a dog. Even had three guys to boss around, which made her feel at home. Life was weird, but it was nearly perfect.
